BOSTON LOUIE MEMORIAL, TOM SCULLY SR MEMORIAL & TRIPLE CROWN RACING THIS WEEKEND AT SEEKONK SPEEDWAY7/11/2023 SEEKONK, Mass. — The middle of July will bring two more exciting nights of short-track racing this weekend at Seekonk Speedway, July 14 and 15. On Friday night, Fast Friday returns, headlined by round two of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for the Sport 4 division. On Saturday, as the Sportsman and Trucks take the night off, the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites invade Seekonk for the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial races, along with main events for the Senior Tour Auto Racers, Pro Stocks and Late Models. The Pro Stocks will run the rescheduled Tom Scully Sr. Memorial race, set for 55 laps, while the Late Models are on track in their second Triple Crown Series event, a 45-lap race. Two full nights of racing at your local short-track is on tap. The Boston Louie Seymour Memorial classic honors Boston Louie, who passed away in 1996, and was a successful car owner. The race is long known as one of the top short-track Midget races in the country each year and is drawing some major interest. Former NASCAR star Ken Schrader will return to Seekonk to pilot the No. 29 for Seymour Racing on Saturday. The Boston Louie event will draw some of the top talent to Seekonk for this high-speed, open-wheel division and fans will not want to miss it. As the race towards the Sunoco Drive For The Cup continues on NASCAR Saturday, the Pro Stocks honor one of the top names in Seekonk history, Tom Scully Sr., with a special 55-lap feature. Dave Darling has won back-to-back extra-distance races in the last two events and is a clear favorite for the night. However, Tom Scully Jr. would love to win the race in honor of his father. They will be joined by Rick Martin, Dylan Estrella, Mike Brightman, Colbey Fournier, Kenny Spencer and many others for the race this Saturday night. The second round of the Late Model Triple Crown Series should be an interesting one. Names like Vinnie Arrenegado, Luke LeBrun and Jacob Burns are among the early season winners in this division. Look for Chase Belcher, Mark Jenison, Richie Murray and others to look to add their name to that list on Saturday during the extra-distance main event. The Senior Tour Auto Racers division will also join the Saturday card, throwing back to the older years of cars that competed throughout New England and giving fans a look back in time once again. Fast Friday action includes the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws, both looking to continue a hot start to the season. Multiple different winners including a few first-time drivers are coming off wins in the first five weeks. The two most recent first time winners came last week in Mike Hanafin in the Bandits and Collin Vanasse in the Outlaws. The Sport 4 division will run their second Triple Crown Series race, set for 30 laps. Jarrod Freitas is the only multiple-time winner in their first five events, scoring his second win last time on the track. Crystal Murray, Mikey LeFort and Tyler Duhancik are the other winners so far this year. Henry Lavallee is one name to watch looking to get his first of the year after coming close so far in the Sport 4’s. Scott Cestodio won the first three in the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, but Danny Massa and Ethan Souza have won the last two. Can a name like Mike Henriques, Greg Perry, Sam Lincoln, or someone else continue the streak of winners in the 25-lap race this week? And if last Friday’s Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars race was any indication, look out for their excitement on Friday. Names like Richie Helger Jr. and Chase Silvia seem to be closing in on their first career wins, but Jacob Burns, Isaiah Newcomb and others have been consistently strong and look to get back to the top this week. Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 in advance or $13 at the gates on race day. NASCAR Saturday tickets are $15 for adults in advance and $5 for children ages 6-12. Race day tickets at the track are $18 for adults on Saturday. Parking is free on both nights of racing.
