SEEKONK, Mass. — After the twists and turns of a Late Model race that went from the green to the checkered flag without a yellow to stop it, veteran Charlie Rose went on top in the No. 91 after 45-laps in the Late Models. Rose worked the outside of Luke LeBrun in the final laps, while racing for second on the scoreboard. However, even though Rose crossed the line third at the finish, officials made calls to penalize the first and second place cars, and Rose was the victor of the main event. Mark Jenison finished second and Jacob “Rowdy” Burns was credited with third. The Late Models now have two races in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series in the books. The third and final race in the series will be held on Saturday, August 12. One week later, they will be off when the American-Canadian Tour is in town on August 19. The Late Models will be back on track on Saturday, July 22 for another 30-lap feature. SEEKONK, Mass. — In the heat race for the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial, Avery Stoehr ended up on his side. When he flipped back over and rolled out for the feature, the 29-lap special, Stoehr made sure he stayed on all four wheels and it paid off in a big way. Stoehr rocketed to the victory in the main event over Jake Trainor and Paul Scally. Trainor, who won the NEMA Lite race earlier in the night, was looking to make it two-for-two and sweep the Boston Louie races. Stoehr celebrated the big win in one of NEMA’s major events of the season. Dylan Rock and Kody Swanson finished fourth and fifth. Seekonk Speedway will be back on the track on Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 with another full weekend of racing. SEEKONK, Mass. — Jake Trainor and Seekonk Speedway seem to be the perfect pairing in 2023. After winning the Little 500 in Indianapolis back on Memorial Day weekend, Jake visited Seekonk for Open Wheel Wednesday on June 28 and won the NEMA Lite feature event. Saturday, driving a different car in the NEMA Lites feature, Trainor was on top once again after 50 laps at Seekonk. Trainor passed Randy Cabral to take the lead and never looked back en route to the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial victory. Cabral finished second, coming just a few laps away from winning another Boston Louie race. Chase Locke was third, followed by Kyle Valeri and Jacob Perry. SEEKONK, Mass. — Invading Seekonk Speedway for the first time this season in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars, Jase Mongeon made it count. The driver of the No. 19 used the outside lane on a green-white-checkered finish to wheel around Jacob “Rowdy” Burns and take the victory in the 25-lap main event.
Burns, Isaiah Newcomb, Richie Helger Jr and others had a tough battle for the lead for much of the early portion of the race. It wasn’t until the final few laps that Mongeon made his moves count to get to the front, taking the outside of the front row for the final restart. Mongeon edged out Burns across the line by less than two car lengths, with Burns and Newcomb finishing second and third. Helger scored a second straight top-five in fourth and Brenden LaBelle finished in fifth. Cole Robie, Chase Silvia, Nicholaus Bulkeley, Mason Tessier and Jake Silvia finished sixth through 10. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars will return to the track on Friday, July 21, with another 25-lap race. SEEKONK, Mass. — Timmy Ouellette conquered all Friday night in the 25-lap Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock race at Seekonk Speedway. He started from the outside pole, passing Mike Henriques for the lead early, and held off a charge from three-time season winner Scott Cestodio to score the feature win. Ouellette worked the top to pass Henriques then slid to the bottom and began working on keeping control. Cestodio charged to second just around halfway and worked the back bumper for the final laps, but couldn’t make the move to the win. He would finish second, with Danny Massa returning to the podium in third. Ethan Souza and Sam Lincoln followed in fourth and fifth. Jared Cordeira, Henriques, Don Courtemanche, Matt Talbot and Harold Holsworth finished out the top-10. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the track on Friday, July 21, with another 30-lap race in round two of the Everett’s Triple Crown. SEEKONK, Mass. — Mikey LeFort got to the lead around halfway in the second round of the Everett’s Triple Crown for the Sport 4 division on Friday night and never looked back. Driving the Richie Helger Racing No. 13, LeFort used a restart to get around Richie Johnson and drive away to his second victory of the season in the 30-lap feature.
The win locked Crystal Murray, the first Triple Crown winner, and LeFort into the Final Four for the Triple Crown title, along with two other drivers on points. Justin Leduc scored a career best second-place with Jarrod Freitas, another two-time season winner, finishing third. Defending champion Murray would grab fourth with Johnson not far behind in fifth. Henry Lavallee, Taylor Bowser, Tyler Duhancik, Daniel Hayes and Christine Cavallaro were sixth through 10th at the checkered flag. The Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, July 21, with another 25-lap race. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. SEEKONK, Mass. — On a night where his father celebrated his birthday, Ryan Vanasse Jr. made sure to blow out the candles on the rest of the field. For the fourth time this season, the driver of the No. 11 in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws was carrying the checkered flag on Friday night.
Vanasse came out on top in a battle with Brent Robidoux once again to score the win. It was the fourth of the year for Vanasse, but Robidoux has been close for all of them and has a victory himself. Between the two drivers, they have won all but one of the feature events. Robidoux finished second again Friday night in the 15-lapper. Ben Morabito finished in the third spot, his best run of his young season. Collin Vanasse charged back through the field after a mid-race tangle to finish fourth with Bryson Robidoux crossing in fifth. RJ Murphy, Dylan Calabro, Andrew Gomes, Zachary Keith and Abbie Badejo finished out the top-10. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, July 21, with another 15-lap race. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. SEEKONK, Mass. — Sam “The Green Hornet” Macedo was back on top Friday night at Seekonk Speedway. Driving his familiar No. 16, Macedo made the move to the front of the pack early, then held off Nick Uhrig Jr. to roll to his second feature win of the season in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits. The defending champion went without a victory last year, but as the division hits the month of July, he will look to report in the Sunoco Drive For The Cup with at least two wins to his credit. Uhrig had a strong run to finish second, adding yet another consistent finish to what is turning out to be the best season of his career. Parker Davis, who won the first two races of the season, returned to the podium to finish in third spot. Ryder Aguiar had a career best fourth and Mike Hanafin, the winner from one week prior, finished the top-five. Jace Chaber, Mason Silva, Carl Satterlund Jr., David Bernier and Luka Dib completed the top-10. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits will return to the track on Friday, July 21, with another 15-lap race. Fast Friday at Seekonk Speedway continues to showcase the youth and rising stars of short-track racing in Massachusetts. This past Friday night, July 7, Seekonk added three first-time winners to the track wins list - Collin Vanasse, Mike Hanafin and Nicholaus Bulkeley. All three of them earned their victories in INEX divisions — the first two in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions (Bandits for Hanafin, Outlaws for Vanasse) and Nicholaus in the Legends Cars. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, Hanafin scored his first career win in dominating fashion, leading all 15 laps in the red, white and blue No. 76. The son of former track Sportsman champion John Hanafin, Mike has been trying to win a race for many years - dating back to karts through the Bandolero division, racing across different parts of New England. After coming close at Seekonk many times, this season, the speed has certainly been there for this rising star. He jumped out front and wasn’t going to be denied - keeping the Hanafin name in the record books in the next generation of Seekonk winners. In the Bandolero Outlaw division, Collin Vanasse also waited a long time to add his name to the trophy. This past Friday, everything finally fell his way after countless times of coming so close. He held off a late charge from Bryson Robidoux - also seeking his first career win - to take the No. 78 to the winner’s circle. Collin continues a long list of Vanasse family members to put themselves in Seekonk’s Victory Lane. His cousin, Ryan Vanasse Jr., is a three-time winner in this division already in 2023. And it looks like Collin’s first victory may open the flood gates. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars main event came down to a final-lap dash with Bulkeley taking the lead from Jacob Burns to score his first win. On a night where the Legends had one of their most exciting races this season, Bulkeley made sure to pounce when the opportunity was in front of him. He comes out of the same shop as the “Green Hornet”, Seekonk’s defending Bandolero Bandit champion with the green hair, Sam Macedo. He made it count on Friday to get the win. Overall, the start of the 2023 Fast Friday season has seen multiple first-time winners. In the Outlaw division, it’s Collin Vanasse. In the Bandit division, it’s Parker Davis and Hanafin. In the Legends Cars, Bulkeley joins Brenden LaBelle as the two first-time winners this season - LaBelle has three in three starts for him in the first five events. The Sport 4’s and Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks haven’t seen first-time winners yet in 2023, but there are many names that are certain to try and get one before the season is over. Some names to watch as potentially next on the list? In the Bandits, look out for Mason Silva. In the Outlaws, look out for Bryson Robidoux and Dylan Calabro. In the Sport 4’s, watch for Richie Johnson and Taylor Bowser. The Pure Stocks? Check out names like Matt Talbot, Josh Badach and Don Courtemanche. In the Legends Cars, the list is endless - Richie Helger Jr., Chase Silvia, Jaden Hamilton, Stephen Bowden, Kevin Davis, Ty LeClerc and many more are ones to watch. As previously noted in Seekonk history, many drivers who start off on Fast Friday make their way to NASCAR Saturday and win races, some track championships. Other drivers who start on Fast Friday graduate and run Touring Series throughout the Northeast market and beyond. Seekonk’s Youth Racing Association, and Fast Friday as a whole, continues to thrive into the future. Fast Friday is slated to return to the track at Seekonk Speedway on Friday, July 14, at 7 p.m. This week includes another round of Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series racing for the Sport 4 division, set for 30 laps. Both Bandolero divisions, the Pure Stocks and Legends Cars will also be in action. For tickets and more information, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com. STACKED FIELD READY FOR BOSTON LOUIE MIDGET MEMORIAL RACES THIS SATURDAY AT SEEKONK SPEEDWAY7/11/2023 SEEKONK, Mass. — In all the years of the Boston Louie Memorial NEMA Midget racing Classic, there has never been a list of talent assembled like the one that will visit Seekonk Speedway this Saturday night, July 15. As the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites invade Seekonk for the Boston Louie Memorial events, they join a full night of racing that also includes the Senior Tour Antique Racers and Seekonk’s Pro Stocks and Late Models, both in extra-distance races. All the action begins at 6 p.m. The NEMA fields are stacked with talent. Leading the list is former NASCAR star Ken Schrader, who will be fresh off the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) event at Stafford Speedway on Thursday. Schrader has been to Seekonk before, many times, but will be driving the Seymour Racing No. 29 that Jake Trainor drove to Victory Lane during the Open Wheel Wednesday events a few weeks ago. NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace and current NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece are just a few of the drivers who have chimed in to share their good luck wishes to Ken as he visits the third-mile. “I heard from Bentley Warren and Bob Seymour and they tell me you’re running the Boston Louie race up at Seekonk,” Rusty Wallace said. “That 29 is bad fast and you’re a talented guy and I know you can do it. I’m wishing you all the luck in the world. Go up there and get them buddy.” “Heard you’re running the Boston Louie,” Preece said. “I know the car you’re driving has been pretty fast this year and I know you’re quite the wheelman. I expect you to go out there and win it.” On top of Schrader, names like Sammy Swindell and Kody Swanson will also be making the trip to Seekonk. Swindell, a three-time World of Outlaws champion and five-time Chili Bowl Nationals champion, has been to Seekonk before. Swanson, a seven-time USAC Silver Crown Series champion and three-time Little 500 winner in Indianapolis, knows how to get the job done in big races. Jake Trainor is coming back to Seekonk just a few weeks after winning the NEMA Lite race at Open Wheel Wednesday looking to grab another win. Hot with his Little 500 win in May during Memorial Day weekend against the top Midget talent in the country, Trainor seems to have picked up on Seekonk quickly. And that’s not all. Oswego Speedway 350 Supermodified champion Chase Locke, at just 17-years-old, will be there Saturday. Former champion Todd Bertrand, who is focusing on the NEMA Lites this year, will also run. PJ Stergios, a successful Midget driver, is going for his Boston Louie NEMA Lite win number five. Alby Ovitt, a winner in many different cars, is the current points leader in the NEMA Lites and will compete. The USAC Midget guests invading Seekonk will be led by all-time winner Chris Lamb. Coming off a win at Waterford Speedbowl, current NEMA points leader and former champion Randy Cabral looks to add another Seekonk win to his credit. NEMA Midget former champion Avery Stoehr is looking to repeat his Boston Louie win last year. And three-time NEMA champion John Zych will be going for his second Boston Louie flag. These names are just some of the top contenders planning to compete in the special events, with more invading the track. The NEMA Lite race will be 50 laps, with the NEMA Midgets race set for 29 laps. Tickets for Saturday’s Boston Louie night at Seekonk are $15 for adults in advance online at SeekonkSpeedway.com or $18 at the gate on race day. The event also includes the Pro Stocks for the Scully Memorial 55-lap race, the second round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series for the Late Models and the Senior Tour Antique Racing division. Action begins at 6 p.m. with the first green flag!
