SEEKONK, Mass. — Former Seekonk Speedway Late Model winner and Sport Truck champion Josh Hedges added a Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman win to his resume on Saturday night. Driving the No. 21, Hedges started fourth and worked his way up to the lead, passing Greg Perry for the top spot around halfway. From there, Hedges had a host of challengers try to take it away. He held off Tyler Almeida on the final restart to score the win, but also had a tough battle with Scott Serydynski Jr. for the lead in the middle of the race. While Hedges won, Almeida opened the season with a strong second. Jeremy Lambert, a former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion, finished in third, while Doug Benoit and Colby Lambert rounded out the top-five. Colby had to charge through the field after an incident in the middle of the race. Nick Wood, Mackenzie Stevenson, Dane Saritelli, Perry and Mark Healy finished the top-10. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will be back on track on Saturday, May 18 for their second race of the season.

Jenison won the title in 2022, his first career in the Pro Stocks, while also winning the Late Model title. He followed it up by winning a second Pro Stock crown last year and enters 2024 looking for three in a row. Jenison will look to become just the fourth driver in the history of the Pro Stocks to win a third straight title – Norm Holden, Fred Astle Jr. and David Darling are the only on that list. Bobby Pelland III rebounded from an opening day disqualification to win the NASCAR State Championship for Massachusetts last year and had a consistent second half of the season. Pelland won the Everett’s Triple Crown title and had multiple feature wins. The former Late Model champion looks to pounce in 2024 with more wins and another shot at the title. Dylan Estrella and Colbey Fournier are two more top contenders. Estrella, a former Late Model champion, is no stranger to Pro Stock Victory Lane and returns driving the No. 46 for Everett’s Auto Parts as a new dad. Fournier, who missed the summer last year after an accident, rebounded to contend down the stretch and visit Victory Lane. Expect both of these two drivers to be frequent names at the front of the field in 2024. Defending two-time Late Model champion Vinnie Arrenegado Jr. is also making the big move in 2024. Arrenegado will campaign at least a partial schedule in the Late Models and will compete full-time in the Pro Stocks. Vinnie has shown over the years that he is one of the top contenders in the Late Models - winning countless races and two titles. How will his move to the Pro Stocks treat him? Other names to watch: Mike Brightman and Kenny Spencer. After what he would call a few years of struggling, the last two have been impressive for Brightman with feature wins and consistency. He’s made the Championship 4 two years in a row, but hasn’t sealed the deal. Is 2024 his year? Spencer has been up and down the last few years with multiple racing incidents, but we know this former champion is a threat every time he hits the track.
Mike Rotondo won the Rookie of the Year honors last year driving the famed No. 48 for Rollie Lindblad and will be back for the 2024 season. Can he make the playoffs again and chase his first career win during the season? One would be wrong to count out Dick Benoit. As a consistent driver from last season, he made noise in the playoffs and came close to contending for the title. His biggest goal going into 2024? Grab the elusive feature win. Seven-time Pro Stock champion Dave Darling is also planning to run select events. Don’t forget about former Late Model champion Tommy Adams, either. Rick Martin, a man who needs no introduction, is planning to run at least a partial schedule in the Pro Stocks, while chasing another Truck title. Other names to watch in the Pro Stocks include Daryl Stampfl, Jerammee Lillie, Ken Lavallee, Danny Thibault and Kevin Casper. Look out for Tibeault, who showed speed last year, to make even more gains in 2024. Other registered drivers planning to make at least select events include Chris Gomes, Danny Cabral and Billy Joerres. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Pro Stocks on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Pro Stocks will be Saturday, September 28. For more information on the 2024 Pro Stock season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news.
Burns, the defending Fast Friday Legends Cars champion, established his name in the Late Models the last two years. Burns is going to win often, and he’s going to make the playoffs with a shot to add a NASCAR Late Model title to his credit in the No. 30. Two more drivers to watch are Chase Belcher and Connor Souza. Both of these young drivers have proven they can win races. Souza won twice last year, including the season-finale in the No. 38, and is coming back in 2024 looking for more. Belcher, driving the No. 35 for Everett’s Auto Parts, has multiple career wins, and came so close to the championship in 2022. Can either of them challenge to make the head table? Former Sport Truck champion Richie Murray looks to get back to Victory Lane in 2024. He picked up his first career Late Model win on opening day in 2022, and had top-five finishes last season in his No. 08. Luke Lebrun is a former Legends Cars champion and has been to Victory Lane in the Late Models before at Seekonk. Look out for him in his No. 27 to contend for wins and the chase for the title. Another name to add to the list is veteran Charlie Rose, who made the Final Four last year and will surely be a threat on the track. Moving up from the Fast Friday Sport 4 division, Jarrod Freitas will contend for the Rookie of the Year in the Late Models in the No. 47. Moving from Fast Friday himself is former Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero winner Andrew Gomes, who will compete with Freitas for the Rookie of the Year honors, driving the No. 10. The move for both of those drivers shows the continued growth in Seekonk’s Fast Friday program helping drivers eventually make the move to NASCAR Saturday. Brittany Campbell, a multiple-time Sport Truck winner, also will be part of the Rookie of the Year class in her Late Model debut season. Tyler Lallier may not be a Rookie, but the former Sportsman championship contender has plans to return to competition this year in his familiar No. 7. Look out for names like Jerammee Lillie, who always runs near the front. Ryan Souliere is also registered in the No. 4 and Bill Goodrow the No. 32, while Manny Dias has registered the No. 42. Expected to run a partial schedule is former Late Model champion Bobby Pelland III, driving for the Vanasse family. We mentioned it off the top, but look for Arrenegado to contend for wins when he runs. Others to watch include Nathan Tracy, Dennis Stampfl and more. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Late Models on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Pro Stocks will be Saturday, September 28. The Late Models will also have the opportunity to race with the American Canadian Tour in non-Seekonk points events on June 8 and November 2. For more information on the 2024 Late Model season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news.
Pettey is looking to do what he did last year again - but also come away with the championship at the end of the busy schedule driving the No. 57. Colby Lambert had success last year driving the No. 54 and is back for another year in the Sportsman class. He’s joined this year by his brother, Jeremy, a former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion, who has registered car No. 15 for competition. Tyler Almeida is a graduate of Seekonk’s Fast Friday program and has been improving consistently in the Sportsman. It’s likely 2024 may bring his first checkered flag. Former division champion Sparky Arsenault has a fresh look for 2024 and looks to get on the track often in the No. 96. Former Fast Friday Pure Stock champion Doug Benoit will be back in the No. 12, looking to get to Victory Lane himself. Fans can look out for the always exciting Ed Perry, Chris Rioux, Randy Moretti and Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia throughout the year. Moving up from the Pure Stocks is Nick Brightman, while Dane Saritelli and Paul Williams are also names to watch. Although he’s also registered in the Pro Stocks, look for Chris Gomes to take laps at some point in his Sportsman return. Josh Hedges, a former Late Model winner, will also contest a partial schedule. Cody Tripp ended up running a part-time schedule last year, but mechanical failures sidelined him more often than not. He will be coming back to run at least some races this year, looking to score his first career win. Some other names to watch include Don Perry, Nick Wood, Mark Healy and more. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Sportsman on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Pro Stocks will be Saturday, September 28. For more information on the 2024 Sportsman season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news.
Jake Vanada is front and center. Driving in the Everett’s Auto Parts Racing stable for 2024 in his familiar No. 29, Vanada won the Everett’s Triple Crown title last year and was right with Martin in competition along the way, right down to the final laps of the season. Vanada is going to be a major threat to win races and contend for his first track title driving in his first year with Everett’s. Former Sport Truck champions Mike Cavallaro and Mike Duarte are two more contenders to watch. Duarte has been around the top-five for multiple years and Cavallaro is no stranger to winning races and championships. It’s likely both of them will make the playoffs and be in contention for the title, but their major goal is visiting Victory Lane and doing it often. Veteran contender Amy Arsenault is back for another year. Brittany Campbell won last year and made the Final Four to contend for the title, but will make the move to the Late Models full-time and may run a partial Truck schedule. Arsenault, a graduate of the Fast Friday Pure Stock division, enters the season hoping to get the family name back in the winner’s circle at Seekonk Speedway.
A veteran of the division like Darryl Church will be again mixed with rising drivers like Tom Scully III and Ethan Heilborn. Church is no stranger to winning and running in the top-five, while Scully has one career win. Both Scully and Heilborn showed last year they can run in the front when the cards fall right, and with an offseason of work behind them, they are revving up looking to get to the front of the pack. Look out for Dave Darling’s mastermind crew chief Jeff Belyea to contend for his first win this season in the No. 52. He’s joined by DJ Thibeault, a graduate of the Fast Friday Sport 4 class, who showed speed throughout last year and is also looking for his first career win. Pure Stock graduate from Friday Steven Buckley is also making his move to the Sport Trucks in 2024. Other names registered include Tim Bolger Jr., Doug Rioux, Marissa Morgan, Richard Stockwell, Anastasia LeBrun, Tim Watson, Daniel McGee, Trent Rodrigues and more. The 2024 season opens for Seekonk’s Sport Trucks on Sunday, May 5 at 2 p.m. The season includes events from May through September. The championship night for the Sport Trucks will be Saturday, September 28. For more information on the 2024 Sport Trucks season, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news.
