![]() Friday’s Bandolero Outlaws feature provided us the division’s first installment of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown and some great racing. When the green flag waved, Bradley Strickland wheeled his Bandolero Outlaw from fifth place and charged to the front on the inside, finding himself as the race leader by lap four. Andrew Gomes looked to keep pace on the outside early on. Strickland worked quickly to stretch a several-car-length lead over the rest of the field, but by lap 11, Chase Silvia caught and overtook Strickland for the lead, and raced to the finish, edging Strickland by 0.232 seconds at the line, making it back-to-back wins to start his season. Andrew Gomes’ early-race efforts paid off well, as he secured third place at the checkered flag. Joey LeMay and Adam Harrison battled throughout the 15 laps, which stayed green from wire to wire. LeMay came home fourth and Harrison fifth. Brent Robidoux finished sixth and Mikey Lefort III finished seventh with a slight 0.142 second gap separating the two at the line. Dylan Calabro finished eighth, followed by Bobby Bettencourt III and Abbie Badejo. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw division will return to the track on Friday, June 10 for another 15-lap feature. ![]() By Sam Tully Darren Krantz Jr. found himself in a familiar spot Friday night when the checkered flag waved, claiming his second win of the season in as many weeks in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits. In similar fashion as the season opener, Krantz raced his way to the lead by lap three and went on to lead the rest of the 15-lap feature. Krantz is off to a hot start as he looks to defend his title of 2021 Champion in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits division. Milania Shilosky is the one driver closest to reeling in a red-hot Krantz as she notched another second-place finish, crossing the line just 0.847 seconds behind Krantz. Rounding out the top-three was Ryan Vanasse Jr., getting his Bandolero Bandit into the top-three for the first time this season. Fourth and fifth place were awarded to Bryson Robidoux and Samuel Macedo, respectively. The two battled side-by-side when the green flag waved to start the feature, as well as briefly following the lap three restart. Ultimately, each settled for a top-five finish. Allyha DeSomma finished sixth, followed by Nick Uhrig Jr., Parker Davis, Mike Hanafin, and Collin Vanasse, who rounded out the top-10. The driver of the green No. 38 captured her second straight win to open the 2022 season on Friday night, rocketing to the front in the late stages. Christian Herman crossed the line first on the track but a post-race technical infraction sidelined him in the results. Tyler Duhancik rebounded from a tough first week to finish third, while Jarrod Freitas and Taylor Bowser finished the top-five. Perry started on the outside pole, quickly took the lead and led all the way to the checkered flag. Behind him, there was a lot of beating and banging, with Danny Massa and Jeremy Lambert coming out on top of late race battles, finishing second and third. Deshaies, a former Seekonk Youth Racing Association champion, finished second in week one, and captured the checkered flag week two, winning the 25-lap feature on Friday, June 3. Deshaies, teaming with a new group in 2022, is showing plenty of speed in the opening weeks of the season. He passed Josh Parsons for the top spot just before halfway and was essentially unchallenged to the finish. Reese Bogue worked his way onto the podium, scoring a second-place finish, while Brendon Hammann followed up his opening night victory, finishing third. Branden LaBelle and Nicholaus Bulkeley rounded out the top-five. Richie Helger Jr finished sixth, followed by Jake Silvia, Brandon Tiezzi, Dustin Gagne and Ethan Avellar. The driver of the No. 7 in the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars at Seekonk Speedway opened the 2022 season with a wreck in turn three on lap one, went to the rear, then drove back through the pack and ended up in Victory Lane after a wild 25-lap race. Hammann wasn’t going to be denied, and neither was Devin Deshaies, who also worked from the rear of the field back into the front, finishing second in his first ride in the No. 88 machine. Reese Bogue ran inside the top-five for most of the race, even leading laps, and finished third. Jacob “Rowdy” Burns took a night off from his NASCAR Saturday Late Model to break out the Legend Car and finish fourth, while Brandon Tiezzi finished the top-five. Isaiah Newcomb was sixth, followed by Josh Parsons, Jake Silvia, Ty LeClerc and Branden LaBelle. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars division will return to the track on Friday, June 3 for another 25-lap feature. The former champion picked up the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock victory on opening night of Fast Friday, leading all 25 laps from the pole position. Chouinard may have been in the lead for the whole race, but it wasn’t easy — especially over the final few laps. Jeremy Lambert closed right to the back bumper as the field crossed with seven laps to go, and stayed right there over the final laps. When the field came off turn four for the checkered, there might have been a bit of contact, but it was Chouinard hanging on for the win over Lambert and Jim Reilly, who opened the year with a strong third-place effort. Mike Rotondo opened the season with an impressive fourth-place, while Danny Massa rounded out the top-five after 25 laps. Jordan Threlfall was sixth, followed by Mike Henriques, Timmy Ouellette, Sam Lincoln and Jared Cordeira. After starting fifth, Crystal Murray wasn’t going to be denied in the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 division on opening night at Seekonk Speedway. Murray rolled to second quickly, then chased the back bumper of the No. 48 of Tyler Duhancik into the final laps. On a restart inside the final 10 circuits, Murray used the outside lane to pass Duhancik for the lead, then Duhancik went spinning off turn four one lap later, and Murray was clear sailing from there. The driver of the green No. 38 rolled to Victory Lane to open the 2022 season, while Karlin Levesque chased her across the line, finishing second. Levesque ran inside the top-five for the duration of the race, and came home with a solid finish to open the year. Christian Herman finished third, followed by Henry Lavallee and Jarrod Freitas. Duhancik would come back from the rear to finish sixth, followed by Taylor Bowser, Daniel Hayes, Christine Cavallaro and Stephanie Bruneau. The new season may be one of the most competitive in the history of the Seekonk’s INEX Legends Cars class, with a mix of veterans, rising stars, and Rookie of the Year contenders ready to roll. Picking a favorite? Almost impossible. But at the top of the list is runner-up in the point standings last year, Mason Tessier, and new B&M Maintenance driver, Devin Deshaies. Tessier only picked up one win during the 2021 season, but was a threat, inside the top-five most of the weeks, and is driving for Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Racing along with Richie Helger Jr. this year. Deshaies is going to pilot the same car Luke Lebrun drove last year, back under the Nick Lascuola Racing banner, and he will be a threat to win, and win often. Behind them, names Brenden LaBelle, Reese Bogue, Brendon Hammann, Josh Parsons and Jacob “Rowdy” Burns are some more to watch. LaBelle and Bogue are both graduates of the Seekonk Youth Racing Association and are going to be contenders to get to Victory Lane for the first time in the Legends Cars in 2022. LaBelle will be running full-time to contend for the title, while Bogue may run select events, while also running in the Late Models on NASCAR Saturday. Hammann and Parsons are some of the more polished veterans in the Legends Cars at Seekonk, both with multiple feature wins to their credit, including last year. Hammann drives for his family-owned team, while Parsons is part of the Nick Lascuola Racing group and planning to be a major threat for the championship. Rowdy Burns, who also competes in the NASCAR Saturday Late Models, is a Legends Cars winner and one of the more exciting drivers to watch on the track. Names like Isaiah Newcomb, Brody Monahan, Ty LeClerc, Jake Silvia and Ethan Avellar should also be ones to watch. Newcomb is no stranger to Seekonk, winning the championship in the Bandolero division in 2020, and will be back full-time in a Legend Car in 2022. Monahan, moving over to Seekonk this year, will be looking to make a name for himself. LeClerc is inside the Nick Lascuola Racing stable, ready to battle for another year, and Silvia, who had speed last year, will be looking to break into Victory Lane. Ethan Avellar is looking to continue to gain momentum and increase his confidence during the season. A few more drivers are also going to be moving up from the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero division into the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars. Look out for Nick Chaber Jr, Jase Mongeon, Nicholaus Bulkeley and defending Bandolero Outlaw champion Richie Helger Jr to be contenders. Helger, who dominated the Bandolero divisions for the last two years and finally won the title last year, has been quick in the pre-season practice rounds and should be a contender to grab his first win, maybe quickly. Additional names to watch include Kevin Logan Davis, Christian Schulz, Brandon Tiezzi, Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia, Cainen Schulz, Matt Carpenter, Ben Amado, Mike Floyd, Wade Oemcke, Andrew Carpenter and others, who will also be planning to compete. The Legends Cars division is also known for a few drivers we didn’t expect sneaking their way into contention at the front of the field, so be on the lookout for it in 2022! The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars season begins on Friday, May 27 with a 25-lap feature and will roll through Friday, September 23, where the champion will be crowned. Tickets for all Seekonk Speedway Fast Friday, NASCAR Saturday and Thrill Show events are available today at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Fans are encouraged to follow the track on social media for the latest updates and information. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock field will showcase one of the most stacked fields in Seekonk Speedway history in 2022. As a growing division that started over a decade ago, the Pure Stocks continue to be the place for drivers who want to make one final step on Fast Friday before they move to NASCAR Saturday. The division includes the likes of many veterans, including some former champions and race winners, and rising stars, who are looking to make a name for themselves in a competitive class. Last year, veteran Greg Perry picked up his second career championship, besting Danny Massa over the final stretch of the season to visit championship glory. Entering 2022, those two drivers are at the top of the list of favorites. Perry, as a two-time champion, is going to be tough to beat. He has the experience, the drive to succeed and the championship glory and history to be there at the end. Massa, who won multiple races early last year, may have fallen off late — but don’t let that fool you. He wants to prove he can become a champion and will look to use the 2022 season to do it. As Seekonk introduces the playoff system in 2022 — the Drive 4 For The Cup — including three races in September, where the field will be cut from 8 drivers, to 6 drivers, to 4 drivers for the final race — who will be the one to become champion? In that final championship race, the driver that bests the other three in the feature will be the champion. The question is: who will make it there to battle for it? This is going to be different, but fun for everyone to watch. Behind Perry and Massa, multiple frontrunners from the end of last year are going to be tough to beat. Names like Jeremy Lambert, Ethan Souza, Timmy Ouellette and Jim Reilly should be on the list to watch. Lambert is a former division winner, while Souza, who has been working with former Pro Stock champion Fred Astle Jr., showed a ton of speed and visited Victory Lane in his first few races during the 2021 season. Timmy Ouellette, who graduated from the Seekonk Youth Racing Association, won the Everett’s Triple Crown title last year, and wants the overall championship. Jim Reilly, who graduated from the Troy City Tactical Spectator Drags into the Fast Friday division lineup, picked up his first career win late last season and should be a threat to contend for the title in 2022. Additional names to watch include Justin Menard, Mike Henriques, Bill Chouinard, Mike Rotondo, Justin Rioux, Jared Cordeira, Emily Brightman, Austin Flanagan, Sam Lincoln, Matt Talbot, Rob Hendrickson and Alice Benoit. Picking out just a few, Flanagan moved from the Sport 4 division to the Pure Stocks late last season and was progressively getting better. Brightman, who is inside the same family as Pro Stock winner Mike Brightman, is looking to get her stability and contend for top-fives this season. Lincoln, Talbot and Hendrickson all have experience and will look to elevate themselves to become a feature winner this year. The additional drivers in the list are also ones to watch going into the new season. How about names like Joe Gardner, Gary Conrad, Nick Brightman, Harold Holdsworth, Matthew Desrosiers and Josh Badach? Will any one of them contend for feature wins? Will someone else come onto the scene and contend to grab the checkered flag during the 2022 season? The Pure Stock division is known for one or two drivers each year to capture their first career win, if not more. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stock season begins on Friday, May 27 with a 25-lap feature and will roll through Friday, September 23, where the champion will be crowned.
