![]() Mike Henriques wasn’t going to let a few caution flags slow him down on Friday night. Henriques worked the early race laps to the lead and was the dominant force until his good friend Greg Perry chased him down in the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks. Perry would edge out across the line with just four laps to go in the lead, and the caution came at the perfect time for the two-time division champion, giving him the lead on the restart, and the bottom groove to himself. However — Henriques — using the outside lane — got back around, and took down his first win of the season in the No. 03. Perry would finish second, while Danny Massa charged to the front and finished in third spot. Jordan Threllfall and Mike Rotondo followed, rounding out the top-five. Sam Lincoln finished sixth, with Jeremy Lambert, Nick Brightman, Ed Gould and Matt Talbot completing the top-10 after 25 laps. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the track on Friday, July 15 for another 25-lap feature. ![]() MANUEL MAKES IT TWO: Former Champion Back On Top In Sport 4’s The second round of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series ended the same way the first round did for the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 division. AJ Manuel, a former division champion, returned to the track, started at the rear, and rolled to Victory Lane driving the No. 88 to the front in style. Manuel literally started last — but wasn’t going to let that slow him down. He chased down leader Mikey LeFort during a green flag run that lasted the first 28 laps — and was looking to the inside of him when the caution went in the air. On the restart, Manuel used the outside lane to clear LeFort and roll to Victory Lane. LeFort would finish second in his second race of the season, while Tyler Duhancik was third. Jarrod Freitas followed up his first career win with a fourth-place finish and Karlin Levesque rounded out the top-five. Taylor Bowser was sixth, followed by DJ Thibeault, Henry Lavallee, Justin Leduc and Stephanie Bruneau. The Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s will return to the track on Friday, July 15 for another 25-lap feature. On Friday night, Silvia rocketed to another feature win, his fifth in six races in the competitive youth division. This time, he had to work extra hard for it. Adam “Hollywood” Harrison worked his way to the lead quickly in the 15-lap feature and it looked like he was going to grab his first win of the year. A late caution slowed the action and Harrison took off out front, leading the field across the line at the white flag. Before long, Silvia was on his bumper as the field took the flag, and the driver of the No. 17 worked to the inside, taking the lead and driving away to the checkered flag out front again. Harrison would finish second, his best effort of the year, with Brent Robidoux completed the podium in third. Mikey LeFort III was fourth and Bradley Strickland finished the top-five. Joey LeMay finished in sixth, followed by Bobby Bettencourt III, Jordan Duquette, Andrew Gomes and Abbie Badejo. Vanasse took advantage of a mid-race mishap battling for the lead and rocketed to the top spot, never giving up the lead position over the course of the rest of the 15-lap feature on Friday, July 8. The victory was the first of the year for the driver of the Team V Racing No. 11, continuing an impressive stretch of consistency at the front of the pack. While Vanasse celebrated the win, Darren Krantz Jr. would finish second, with RJ Murphy putting together the best performance of his career, rounding out the podium in third. Parker Davis was fourth, and Nick Uhrig Jr. scored a top-five finish for the second straight race. Collin Vanasse finished sixth, followed by Bryson Robidoux, Sam Macedo, Mike Hanafin and Rodney Davis. On Friday night, after having last week off, the drivers of the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws, Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s, Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars and Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the third-mile for action. The Saturday night Thrill Show special, beginning at 5PM, will be Seekonk’s annual Independence Day celebration, with fireworks and a full card of racing on tap one week late due to Mother Nature. Friday’s event will showcase the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s in the second round of the Everett’s Triple Crown. In their first Triple Crown event, AJ Manuel, a former division champion, stormed back to the track and rolled to the victory in his first race back. Crystal Murray finished second, and the Tiverton, Rhode Island, native has podium finishes in all of the races so far this season, giving her a points lead of just under 30 going into this week. Jarrod Freitas is coming off his first career win last time out and will be joined by Tyler Duhancik, Henry Lavallee, Karlin Levesque and others as major contenders in the 30-lap special. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars season has revolved around Devin Deshaies and Brendon Hamannn, but Friday could see a new challenger get to Victory Lane. Reese Bogue hasn’t won yet, but multiple top-five finishes has the driver of the No. 4 in prime position to pounce this week. Coming off strong runs in the last few weeks, Isaiah Newcomb, Brenden LaBelle, Mason Tessier, Nicholaus Bulkeley and others should be top of mind when it comes to the 25-lapper this week. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions have been dominated by a few faces early on. In five Bandit races, Darren Krantz Jr. won the first three, but Milania Shilosky has since won the next two. With those two leading the way, Nick Uhrig Jr., Ryan Vanasse Jr and others have also been impressive early on. In the Outlaw division, Chase Silvia has four victories in the first five events and has no signs of slowing down — but Brent Robidoux, Bradley Strickland, Andrew Gomes and others aren’t going to let him get away without a fight. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will also be back Friday night, trying to hold off two-time and defending champion Greg Perry in their championship battle. Perry has two wins, but somehow still sits fifth in their points run due to a DNF early in the season. At the top, most recent division winner Danny Massa leads Jeremy Lambert by just two points. Coming off a strong run, look for Sam Lincoln to get to Victory Lane before long in 2022. Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 8. Tickets are just $10 for adults, while those 12 and under are free. All tickets are available in advance at SeekonkSpeedway.com but will also be sold at the track on race day. On Saturday, Seekonk lights up the night sky with the annual Independence Day Thrill Show powered by MEGA Disposal. The Troy City Tactical Spectator Drags return for another round of racing, while the Car & Truck Enduros, Figure 8 Races, Insane Chain Race and Powder Puff divisions will also be in action. For this special event show, adults are $25 per person, while kids 6-12 are $12 and those five and under are free. Parking, as always, is free at Seekonk Speedway. Gates will open at 2:30PM for this show with the green flag dropping at 5PM. Tickets for all Seekonk Speedway events are now available online at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Tickets can be purchased in advance for both general admission in the grandstands and pit passes for all races, including major upcoming races. Seekonk Speedway will host the Independence Day Thrill Show on Saturday, July 9 and will host Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday racing just about every week through the end of the summer. In July, Seekonk will also host the Pro All Star Series Bay State Classic 150 on July 27, worth $10,000 to win the winner, and the Midsummer Thrill Show on Saturday, July 30. Competing in the third round of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series season, Hirschman passed Woody Pitkat for the lead on lap 31 and never looked back, rolling to his second Tri-Track win of the season in three series events. Hirschman’s fifth Open Wheel Wednesday victory came in the 17th running of the race. He’s the only driver to have passed the three win mark in the prestigious event. The Pennsylvania native opened what will be a busy week – as he will now move to Stafford Motor Speedway to compete with the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) Series on Saturday, July 2, against top stars from across multiple racing disciplines. The Seekonk action aired to a live audience on FloRacing.TV, and was also presented in front of a packed Massachusetts grandstand. “I’ve been at almost all of these events and this is the first time we went back-to-back winning it,” Hirschman said. “There are so many variables that always play into this race. Tonight we had just the night we needed – a good clean night and we were able to keep the car out front. I never really left the bottom all night. We’ve been on a good run of success leading into Saturday at Stafford – hopefully we can keep it going.” While Hirschman sealed another Seekonk win, Kyle Bonsignore charged through the field in the second half of the race and captured an impressive second-place finish. Driving the No. 07 for Justin Albernaz, Bonsignore worked his way to second, but couldn’t make a run at Hirschman. Even still, it was a good run for the 07 team – especially since they just got the car together for the first time in the last two weeks – after struggling to gain the parts they needed for much of the beginning of the season. Anthony Nocella finished third, while young guns Matt Swanson and Austin Beers finished the top-five in the 100-lap event. Woody Pitkat was sixth, followed by Matt Kimball, Ronnie Williams, Tommy Barrett and Jake Johnson. Thirty-two cars attempted to qualify for the $10,000 winning prize. In support division racing, Dave Helliwell captured the victory in the 350 S.M.A.C Supermodifieds, dominating their 40-lap feature. After mentioning in Victory Lane that the team struggled all day in practice, there was no struggling in the caution-free race for Helliwell. He charged to the front, took the lead, and drove into the Seekonk sunset, capturing his first Seekonk victory in his first start at the third-mile. In the 50-lap NEMA Lite feature race, Jake Trainor rolled to the win after passing Randy Cabral in lapped traffic. The race was slowed by a few cautions early, but Trainor took advantage of a lapped car, took the lead, and drove away at the finish. Cabral, a multiple-time Seekonk winner, would settle for second. The NEMA Lites will be back at Seekonk for the annual Boston Louie Seymour Classic on Wednesday, August 24. Seekonk Speedway will return to action on Saturday, July 2 with the Independence Day Thrill Show. The 17th annual Open Wheel Wednesday will mark the third of seven events on the 2022 Tri-Track calendar, and the first of two at the Massachusetts third-mile oval. And this one has $10,000 on the line to the winner. The entry list, just over 30 cars, is stacked with talent. Former Open Wheel Wednesday winners in the field include Matt Hirschman (four), Doug Coby (three), Tommy Barrett, Chris Pasteryak, Richard Savary, Ronnie Williams, Kirk Alexander and Ron Silk. Hirschman also leads the series point standings after two races, sitting just four points up on Chase Dowling. Hirschman and Dowling split the first two races of the season – with Hirschman winning on the high-banks of Monadnock on April 30 and Dowling winning the inaugural Granite City 100 at Thunder Road Speedbowl on Memorial Day weekend. Dowling won the Haunted Hundred to end the 2021 season at Seekonk. Hirschman and Coby both are no strangers to Victory Lane – and both come into Seekonk with momentum on their side. Hirschman is a proven winner, already capturing double-digit Modified wins this season across multiple divisions and tracks. Coby has two NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins with Tommy Baldwin Racing this season, and will return to the seat of his own No. 10 for Wednesday’s special event coming off top-10 finishes in all four of his starts with Baldwin on the Tour in 2022. Silk, set to return to the seat for Bob Horn, who he won Open Wheel Wednesday with in 2019, is expected to be a major contender. Savary and Stephen Kopcik have teamed together for 2022 and have shown speed, specifically at Monadnock in the season-opener. Williams and team owner Gary Casella always seem to get to the front when the big money is on the line, while Pasteryak will look to get back to Seekonk’s Victory Lane for the first time in just about 10 years. Kirk Alexander impressed many at Thunder Road, leading laps and contending for the win. Barrett, driving for the Davini family, will look to turn his season around at a track where he knows how to get to the front. Outside of the above names, the entry list also includes winners and champions from across New England. Multiple-time Stafford Motor Speedway winner Woody Pitkat, who recently won the Bud Light Open Modified 80 at Stafford earlier this month, has committed to the remainder of the Tri-Track schedule with team owner Doug Dunleavy, and their quest for the front begins on Wednesday night. Young gun Austin Beers will sit behind the wheel of the No. 3 Boehler Racing entry, while Sam Rameau, Kyle Bonsignore, Max Zachem, Brian Robie, Austin Kochenash, Matt Swanson and Anthony Nocella are also expected to compete. There will be a little bit of hometown flavor in the field – as Jake Johnson – a two-time Seekonk Legends Cars champion – and Rob Murphy – a former track Sport Truck winner – will both attempt to qualify into the 100-lap event. With just over 30 cars registered, the race will be on in qualifying to make the starting lineup. Heat races will begin at 6:30 p.m. Joining the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series will be two special divisions. The 350 SMAC Supermodifieds will make their second appearance at Seekonk Speedway, while the NEMA Lites are also back on track for a 50-lap special. Through five races of their 2022 season, Jake Trainor leads the NEMA Lite point standings over Avery Stoehr, Dylan Coutu and Joey Bailey. With the division set to compete in 50 fast laps around the third-mile, fans won’t want to blink much – as this division flies around the Action Track of the East. In the only other 350 SMAC Supermodifieds event at Seekonk, Jeffrey Battle went to Victory Lane last year. As the division hits the midway point in their year, Scott Watts Sr. leads James Witkum in their championship battle. Tickets for the 17th annual Open Wheel Wednesday are available online today at SeekonkSpeedway.com and will also be available at the track on the day of the race. Fans and teams are both encouraged to buy passes online in order to avoid the lines on race day. Racing action will begin at 6 p.m. with qualifying rounds for the NEMA Lites, followed by opening ceremonies and qualifying for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series and 350 SMAC Supermodifieds. The features will begin around 7 p.m. with the NEMA Lites, 350 SMAC and Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series rounding out a full Wednesday card. For those fans who won’t be able to make it to the track, FloRacing.TV will air all of the racing live from the Massachusetts third-mile. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com. Seekonk Speedway would like to make fans, teams and competitors aware of the opportunties available to them with online digital passes for entry to the track this season. Through SeekonkSpeedway.com, fans can purchase grandstand admission passes online and put them into their Apple Wallet or print them at home, where they can use them to get in at the track on race day. The same goes for teams, drivers and crew members in the pit area. Pit passes are available in advance on the ticketing platform for purchase. The process is simple: patrons should go online to SeekonkSpeedway.com, click on tickets, and create an account through the software. Once the account has been created, purchase pit passes for respective events you are going to be attending. Upon completing purchase, a link will be sent to your email address with the passes. When opening the link, be sure to add them to your Apple Wallet, or print them at home, to bring with you on race day. This includes for pit passes. Fans or teams that complete this step will be able to skip the lines on race day and avoid delays getting into the track. This also works for teams who would like to purchase passes for their entire team or a few crew members. Upon purchasing the passes, you are able to forward them into someone else’s email address name and they will be able to access them for themselves. This is especially important for Touring Series shows such as the Pro All Star Series or Tri-Track Open Modified Series. Drivers and car owners can purchase passes for themselves and their crew and send them to the respective parties. In order to purchase pit passes on race day for anyone other than just one person, all parties must be there at the time to sign and collect their pit passes. No lists will be created for crew members who are coming at a later time. Seekonk Speedway does appreciate your understanding in this evolution into the digital age. Anyone with questions is encouraged to call the office at 508-336-9559 and ask for Dawn for assistance. You can also visit SeekonkSpeedway.com today to collect tickets for all events during the season and find the latest information on the track. ![]() SEEKONK, Mass. -- Johnny Clark and Seekonk Speedway seem to be the perfect fit lately. Clark picked up his third Pro All Star Series (PASS) win in four Seekonk races on Saturday night, dominating the final half of the 150-lap race to take the impressive victory. Early in the race, two former Seekonk track champions — Angelo Belsito and Nick Lascuola — seemed to be in contention for the win. Belsito led much of the middle stages of the race but spun off turn four and had to go to the rear. Clark battled Eddie MacDonald hard for the lead with 50 laps to go, but he was not going to be denied. Clark rolled to the win, holding off Belsito — who charged all the way back through the field to finish in second. MacDonald, who had a flat tire late, charged back through himself to finish in third. Wayne Halliwell Jr. and Gabe Brown finished the top-five. Ryan Kuhn was sixth, followed by Brandon Barker, Garrett Hall, Ben Ashline and Derek Gluchacki. The Seekonk Speedway Pro Stock division will return to the track on Saturday, July 9. The NASCAR Saturday divisions will be off on July 2. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. |
