SEEKONK, Mass. — One week after leaving the track early, Vinnie Arrenegado rebounded in a big way on Saturday night in the Late Models. Arrenegado jumped out front early on lap eight, passing Connor Souza for the lead, then lost the top spot to Jacob Burns on lap 16. But, the former champion didn’t quit. Arrenegado chased down Burns over the final laps while Burns struggled with a loose car and made the winning move on lap 27 en route to the win. Burns settled for second, with Luke LeBrun charging through the field and coming home with a strong third-place finish after two wins in a row. Chase Belcher and Richie Murray finished the top-five, ahead of Bill Goodrow, Corey Fanning, Tyler Tomassi, Scott Serydynski Jr and Mark Jenison. The Late Models will be back on the track on Saturday, July 15 for round two in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. TRIPLE CROWN: Randy Moretti Picks up Sportsman Win
In a race that was green and clean for the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway, Randy Moretti took full advantage. Moretti picked up his first win in the Sportsman division in a 35-lap Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown event that went without a caution flag. While the cars spread out across the third-mile in the extra-distance event, the name of the game was to get to the front quick for Moretti. He passed for the lead on lap five and never gave up the top spot from there. In a borrowed ride after his wreck last week, Ryan Lineham charged through the field to finish in second, while Steve Axon and Chad Baxter had a tight battle over the final laps, with Axon taking third and Baxter fourth. Colby Lambert, winner from a week prior, was fifth. Adam Pettey, Craig Pianka, Chris Gomes, Nick Wood and Chris Rioux were positions six through 10 at the finish. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will be back on the track on Saturday, July 22. SEEKONK, Mass. — When the Pro Stocks prepared for the extra-distance in the American Racer 75, it was no surprise to see Dave Darling in the field on Saturday night. And it was also no surprise to see Darling rocket to the front from his 10th place starting position and take away the big win after 75 laps.
In the special event, sponsored by Seekonk tire supplier American Racer, Darling worked his way past Kenny Spencer for the lead on lap 28 and never looked back. Spencer, a former champion himself, finished second, posting his best run of the season, with Tom Scully Jr. also posting his best run in third. Darryl Stampfl had a good run finishing in fourth, with Dylan Estrella completing the top-five. Bobby Pelland charged from the back to finish sixth with Mike Brightman, Mike Mitchell, Kevin Casper and Tommy Adams completing the top-10. The Pro Stocks will be back on the track on Saturday, July 15 for the Scully Memorial 55-lap race. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media for the latest news and updates. SEEKONK, Mass. — After a tough few weeks of competition for Mike Cavallaro with his Sport Truck, the former champion had the right combination on Saturday night. Cavallaro jumped out front early in the 25-lap race for the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks and shook the bad luck monkey off his back, dominating to win the main event. It was the first win of the season for Cavallaro in a year that has seen him have plenty of speed, but fail to complete a full race up front.
Saturday was the night. Defending champion Rick Martin finished second with Jake Vanada racing his way through the field to finish in third. Jeff Belyea posted his best career finish in fourth spot with two-time season winner Brittany Campbell rounding out the top-five. Mike Duarte, Amy Arsenault, Ethan Heilborn, Bobby Tripp and Tom Scully III finished the top-10 spots. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will have two weeks off and will return to the track on Saturday, July 22. Seekonk Speedway has a full card of racing scheduled this Saturday, July 1, as Fast Friday takes the week off and the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisions take center stage. Headlined by the $2,000 to win American Racer Pro Stock 75, the night also includes the second round of Everett’s Triple Crown Series action for the Helger’s South Coast Power Sportsman, the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks and Late Models. The Pro Stocks returned to competition for the first time in almost a month on June 24, competing in round one of the Everett’s Triple Crown. David Darling returned to his dominant ways, jumping out front just before halfway and never looking back. Even though he’s running part-time, he’s the favorite again this week as he returns for the $2,000 to win American Racer 75 showdown. Colbey Fournier and Bobby Pelland III joined him on the podium last week — two drivers that have shown early in the season their packages are improved from 2022. Both are expected to win this season. Mike Brightman and Dylan Estrella already have wins, joining Darling, while names like Rick Martin, Tommy Adams, Tom Scully Jr and others would love to get their first of the season in the special event. American Racer is the tire supplier for Seekonk’s Pro Stocks and Late Models. They have worked tremendously with the track through tire shortages, the COVID pandemic and many other challenges the last few seasons. They are proud to present this special $2,000 to win race with $1,500 on the line for second and $1,100 for third and a full purse throughout the field. “We’re always excited for this race and appreciate Seekonk Speedway for all of their efforts and having this event on the schedule again this year,” Bill Galloway of American Racer Tires, said. “The Pro Stock division at Seekonk is one of the most competitive in all of New England when it comes to the top divisions. We are looking forward to watching them battle for some extra cash in their extra-distance American Racer 75 race.” On top of the Pro Stocks, the Sportsman also take center stage with their 35-lap feature in the Triple Crown Series. Back in round one, Steve Axon and Chad Baxter battled side-by-side for many laps to the finish, with Axon inching him out for the win. The division is also coming off one of the most exciting races in the last decade this past weekend, with a four-wide battle on the final lap that saw Colby Lambert come out on top. Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia was back at the top of the division for the first time in many years and names like Adam Pettey, Baxter, Axon and more will be looking to score this Saturday night. Don’t miss the main event for one of the most exciting divisions in all of New England. The Late Models are all chasing Luke LeBrun through the last two races, as the driver of the No. 27 has won them both. Jacob “Rowdy” Burns and Chase Belcher were on the podium with him last week. Early in the season, LeBrun leads defending champion Mark Jenison by five points, Burns by 12 and Belcher by 16. Vinnie Arrenegado, Corey Fanning, Charlie Rose and others will be back this week for another run. After a photo finish last week, Brittany Campbell picked up her second win of the season in the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks, holding off Mike Duarte in a wild dash to the line. As the championship points continue to update heading for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup, Duarte now leads Campbell by seven points at the top. Duarte, a former champion, has top-five finishes in all events so far this season. This Saturday, the division returns for 25 laps. Look for these two drivers and Rick Martin, Darryl Church, Jake Vanada, Amy Arsenault, Tom Scully III, Bobby Tripp and others in their main event. Fans should begin watching the point standings entering July. With the end of August right around the corner, when the field will be set for the Sunoco Drive For The Cup in each division, the battle to make the top eight will continue to spice up around the cutoff point.
