In the $20,000 to win Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series main event, Robie captured the lead late in the 100-lap event and drove away from challengers on multiple restarts to score the feature win. The annual Open Wheel Wednesday was delayed one day due to forecasted inclement weather, but the crowd was strong and 34 Modifieds were in the pit area to chase a purse that was over $80,000 throughout the field. A strong field of 27 took the green flag in the special event, now in its 19th year. Robie passed Matt Hirschman for the lead inside the final 20 laps to roll to the win. The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series results are unofficial pending a full inspection of the winner Brian Robie in tech. SEEKONK, Mass. — In the first of two visits to Seekonk Speedway for the NEMA Lites this season, Ben Mikitarian made sure it was clear he was going to be the one to beat on Thursday night at the Action Track of the East. Mikitarian dominated the 50-lap NEMA Lite feature as part of Open Wheel Wednesday, an event run one day late on Thursday, June 27 due to weather, scoring the feature win. Mikitarian jumped out front and drove away from all challengers in a race that started 17 NEMA Lites. He had to deal with some lapped traffic in the final laps, but it didn’t change the outcome. Former Seekonk NEMA winner Paul Scally finished in second spot, saying after the race that he was happy with a strong podium effort. Kyle Valeri had a third-place finish, while Dylan Coutu and Joey Bailey completed the top-five. The NEMA Lites will be back at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, July 13, as part of the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial for the NEMA Lites and NEMA Midgets, along with Seekonk’s NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Pro Stocks and Late Models. SEEKONK, Mass. — A few years ago, Dave Helliwell found himself in Victory Lane at the Action Track of the East. Fast-forward by a bit, and Helliwell was right back at the start/finish line celebrating at Seekonk Speedway again, this time in 2024. Helliwell used the outside lane to pass Matt Seavey and captured the victory in the 350 SMAC Supermodified 40-lap main event on Thursday evening. Helliwell said in his post-race interview that Seekonk is a tough track - one that requires a lot of mental toughness and focus over the course of the race. In the end, he had what he needed to get the job done. Seavey finished second in the 40-lap feature, while Matt Caprara finished in third. Brad Babb and George Helliwell finished the top-five. They were followed by Scott Watts, Mike Christopher Jr., Stephen Duphily, Jim Barker and Ben Tinker. NEMA LITES, 350 SMAC SUPERMODS ALSO PART OF OPEN WHEEL WEDNESDAY CARD SEEKONK, Mass. — The annual Open Wheel Wednesday is finally on our doorstep. Seekonk Speedway will continue to celebrate this New England racing tradition with the 19th annual event this season on Wednesday, June 26, as the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, NEMA Lites and 350 SMAC Supermodifieds will all be in town for a mid-week showdown. The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event is now $20,000 to win, with a total purse rising over $80,000 throughout a stout starting field of competitors. The NEMA Lites will make their first of two Seekonk appearances in a few weeks with a 50-lap special, while the 350 SMAC Supermodifieds are in for their annual appearance, set for 40 laps. All tickets for the event are already available for purchase online at SeekonkSpeedway.com and will allow fans early entry if they purchase ahead. The Modified tradition when it comes to Open Wheel Wednesday is steep, and this year, there is even more meaning to the race. The event will honor seven-time Seekonk Speedway champion Vinny Annarummo, who we lost over the most recent winter. In his honor, the series and multiple sponsors have come together to race the purse drastically throughout the field. The 100-lap race will pay $20,000 to win, $6,000 for second, $4,000 for third and $3,600 for fourth. Just to take the green flag in the race will be a $1,400 payday. The race will also pay $300 to win each heat race and have additional awards up for grabs for competitors. Annarummo, who made his mark in the Seekonk Pro Stock division, was the 2007 winner of Open Wheel Wednesday. His son, Todd Annarummo, won the event in 2010. They are the only father-son combination to win the race. “Vinny, myself and Ed St. Angelo all started about the same time at Seekonk,” Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series Managing Partner Wayne Darling said. “[St. Angelo] and I are doing this for Vinny. I considered Tri-Track’s home to be Seekonk Speedway. Between Vinny and myself, we won six of the Open Wheel Wednesday events. I won four as a car owner and he won one as a driver and one as a car owner. He was a seven-time track champion there. I feel like we should honor him at Seekonk and that’s why [Ed St. Angelo] and I our doing this. … We just really wanted to do something for Vinny and his family. I’m very happy that people have come on board to help honor him and all that money is going back to the racers. I hope the racers and the crowd to show up to honor Vinny.” As the race draws closer, the entry list continues to rise. Matt Hirschman, who was in Victory Lane when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was at Seekonk for the J&R Precast 150 on June 1, will be in the field. Hirschman is a five-time winner of the Open Wheel Wednesday event and will certainly be a threat to win the $20,000 prize. He is joined by names like Ronnie Williams, Woody Pitkat, Ron Silk, Jon McKennedy, Les Hinckley and Stephen Kopcik. The Monaco Modifieds opened their season at Thunder Road in May - a race where Kopcik scored his first career Tour-Type Modified win. Seekonk race fans should specifically look out for former track Legends Cars champion Jake Johnson, former Pro Stock competitor Kevin Folan, and most recent Open Wheel Wednesday winner, driver of the No. 25, Matt Swanson. The victory last season was a milestone win for Swanson in his young, but growing, Modified career. A full entry list, event schedule and purse breakdown is available on MonacoModifieds.com in Race Central. The always exciting NEMA Lites and 350 SMAC Supermodifieds are winged divisions that speed around the Action Track of the East. SEEKONK, Mass. — As the summer heats up at Seekonk Speedway, June 21-22 will be filled with competition in the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. On Fast Friday, all five divisions will compete in their first round of Triple Crown racing, with the Sport 4’s, Legends Cars and Pure Stocks all going for 30 laps, and both Bandolero divisions set for 15 laps.
On NASCAR Saturday, the second round of the Triple Crown Series starts, with the Sport Trucks set for 35 laps and the Late Models running for 45 laps. The battle to make the Triple Crown Final Four is on - as drivers chase glory in weekly feature racing. On NASCAR Saturday, the Pro Stocks and Sportsman will also be back on the track to fill out a full card of action. With Fast Friday raining out last week, drivers had a little bit of an extra chance to get their cars ready to go. The Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series openers for the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, Outlaws, Sport 4s, Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars and Helger’s Pure Stocks headline Friday night racing, beginning at 7 p.m. for round four of the year. In both the Bandits and the Outlaws, the track has welcomed multiple new winners this season - including names like David Bernier, Mason Silva, Luka Dib, Mike Hanafin and Brody Wakefield. In the Sport 4s, with three different winners in three weeks, there are still plenty of options out there for someone to make it four, hoping to join Matt Pion, Crystal Murray and Tyler Duhancik. Like the Sport 4s, both of the Pure Stocks and Legends Cars have seen three different winners in three weeks. Some names to watch to continue the trend in the Pure Stocks include Ethan Souza, Bobby Bettencourt III and Greg Perry, among others. In the Legends Cars, look for names like Mason Tessier, Josh Parsons, Chase Silvia, Rodney Dowless and others. On NASCAR Saturday, the first Triple Crown race in the Sport Trucks on June 8 went to Radical Rick Martin, who has two wins in four 2024 events. Mike Duarte and DJ Thibeault finished on the podium with him in the first Triple Crown event, giving them a strong chance to try and make the Final Four this week. Similar to the NASCAR Cup Series playoff system, the Triple Crown Series Final Four is made up of the winners in the first two Triple Crown events and the top-two points drivers from those events that did not win. If Martin was to sweep both of the first two, the other three would all be taken from the points. Once they get to the Final Four, the driver who beats the others in the final race wins the Everett’s Triple Crown title. Other names to watch in the Trucks include Tim Bolger Jr., recent winner Jake Vanada, Amy Arsenault, Darryl Church, Tom Scully III and Mike Cavallaro. The first Late Model Triple Crown race went right down to the wire on June 1, with Jacob “Rowdy” Burns winning a wild one over Charlie Rose and Luke Lebrun. These three drivers have frequented the front of the field this season - with Lebrun picking up the most recent win and Rose all around the top-five weekly. Other names to watch? Opening day winner Richie Murray, Chase Belcher, Mark Jenison, Connor Souza and more. The Helger’s Sportsman will also be on track Saturday - chasing victory in their 25-lap feature - along with the Pro Stocks, set for 40 laps. In the Sportsman, Adam Pettey has two straight wins, but the last one came right down to the wire. He had to race against Randy Moretti for the win, taking the lead from him very late in the race. Colby Lambert may be one driver to watch in the Sportsman - he has top-five finishes in all races so far this year. Look out for Scott Serydynski Jr., Doug Benoit, Josh Hedges, Tyler Almeida and more on Saturday in their exciting main event. In the Pro Stocks, Bobby Pelland III is coming off a rather dominant win in the opener of the Everett’s Triple Crown Series. He will have to contend with Rookie of the Year driver Vinnie Arrenegado, a former two-time track Late Model champion, who has finished second in his first three career Pro Stock events. Dylan Estrella and Colbey Fournier already have wins this year, while two-time champion Mark Jenison, Mike Brightman, Jeramee Lillie and others will be looking to find Victory Lane this week. Fast Friday racing begins at 7 p.m., while NASCAR Saturday action takes the green flag at 6 p.m. Seekonk Speedway returns to racing on Friday, June 21 with Fast Friday and Saturday, June 22 with NASCAR Saturday. Don’t forget, the annual Open Wheel Wednesday is also just around the corner on Wednesday, June 26, with a $20,000 to win Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event, the NEMA Lites and 350 SMAC Supermodifieds. ![]() SEEKONK, Mass. — Last year, Bobby Pelland III captured the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown title in the Pro Stocks. This year, he started off his quest to defend that crown on the right foot. Pelland took the lead from Mike Brightman in the middle of the race and then drove away from his contenders to take his first win of the season in the 60-lap event. Pelland started in the middle of the pack, but it didn’t take him long to charge to the front. In a race that was filled with cautions throughout, Pelland took the lead, but then had to hold off a few challengers on restarts. He wasn’t to be denied. Vinnie Arrenegado continued his Pro Stock Rookie of the Year quest with a third consecutive finish on the podium to open the season. He even pitted during the race this time and charged back through to finish second. He was followed by Dylan Estrella, who won the week before, finishing in third. Mark Jenison and Jeramee Lillie followed to finish the top-five after 60 laps. Mike Rotondo, Dick Benoit, Chris Gomes, Kenny Spencer and Rick Martin finished the top-10. The Pro Stocks will be back on track on Saturday, June 22, for another 40-lap feature. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media. SEEKONK, Mass. — With three races in the books in 2024, the Seekonk Speedway Late Models are again shining. Saturday night, their 30-lap feature went right down to the wire once again. After the checkered flag went in the air, it was former Seekonk Legends Cars champion Luke Lebrun celebrating another NASCAR Saturday Late Model win.
Lebrun and Charlie Rose dueled for the top spot over the final 10 laps of the race, with Lebrun coming out on top - but not by much. It was the first win of the season for the driver of the No. 27 after a race that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Rose would settle for second, with former champion Mark Jenison sneaking onto the podium late, coming home in third. Rookie of the Year contender Andrew Gomes, a former Fast Friday Bandolero driver, finished fourth in just his third career Late Model start. He was followed by Jacob “Rowdy” Burns across the line in fifth at the finish. Connor Souza, Brittany Campbell, Tyler Lallier, Mike Brightman and Bobby Pelland rounded out the top-10. The Late Models will be back on track on Saturday, June 22, for round two of the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown Series. Petty charged through the pack from deep in the field and in the final laps, found his way around Randy Moretti to score the feature win. After a tough first week, Pettey has rebounded with tons of winning speed. Moretti settled for second, hoping for one spot better after leading many laps. They were followed two the line by early race leader Jimmy “Pepe” Silvia, who came out with a strong finish in third. Behind them, Scott Serydynski Jr and Ed Perry finished the top-five after 25 laps. Colby Lambert, Joe Kohler, Gerry DeGasparre Jr., Josh Hedges and Nick Brightman finished in the top-10. SEEKONK, Mass. — Jake Vanada caught Darryl Church, who had led the entire Chaz Auto Body Sport Truck feature, with six laps to go on Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. He tried the bottom for a lap or two, but decided it was time he take his No. 29 Everett’s Auto Parts machine to the outside lane and try to get around. Church and Vanada raced side-by-side over the final two laps, but it was Vanada using the top groove to roll into Victory Lane for the first time this season. Vanada had a tough week one race before, but rebounded in a big way, using the outside lane, to rocket into the winner’s circle. Church settled for second in a race where he shined for most of it. Mike Cavallaro rebounded after a few tough weeks, grabbing the third spot in the 25-lap feature. Rick Martin and Mike Duarte followed in fourth and fifth. Tim Bolger, Lenny Guy, Amy Arsenault, DJ Thibeault and Marissa Morgan finished the top-10. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will be back on track on Saturday, June 22, for another 25-lap feature.
