![]() SEEKONK, Mass. — Vinnie Arrenegado struggled much of the summer, but he might be turning it on right at the right time. The defending Late Model champion used a smooth three-wide move to grab the lead in Saturday’s 30-lap feature and never looked back, rolling to Victory Lane. The win was the third of the season for Arrenegado, who saw the monkey fly off his back. Gerry DeGasparre Jr raced through the pack to grab another podium run, finishing second. The seven-time champion is putting himself in prime position to chase another trophy this season. Reese Bogue scored his first Late Model podium, finishing third, while Jacob Burns and Richie Murray completed the top-five. Jeramee Lillie finished sixth, followed by Josh Hedges, Mark Jenison, Chase Belcher and Paul Lallier. The Late Models will return to the track on Saturday, August 27 for the final round of the regular season for 30 laps. ![]() SEEKONK, Mass. — On a special Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment night at Seekonk Speedway, Chad Baxter made clear he is the dominant force in the Sportsman. The defending champion rocketed to yet another win, driving away from his competition in style to win the Helger’s 50-lap feature. It was surely the longest Sportsman race of the year, but Baxter didn’t let that slow him down. He quickly raced to the lead and drove away into the sunset in the final laps to score the win. His teammate Ryan Lineham finished in second, posting a strong run in his return, while Scott Serydynski Jr scored a podium in third. Adam Pettey and Craig Pianka finished the top-five. Colby Lambert followed in sixth, with Randy Moretti, Cody Tripp, Adam Giacomozzi and Doug Benoit completing the top-10. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will return to the track on Saturday, August 27 for the final round of the regular season for 25 laps. Jake Vanada led the most laps in the 25-lap race, but when it came down to the final two, Martin was on top. Vanada restarted in the lead for a green-white-checkered and had to best Martin in order to win. When they crossed for the white flag, a caution dropped due to a spin by Tom Scully III, and it changed everything. Going back to the last completed lap, Martin had edged Vanada at the line. Martin restarted from pole and drove to the win, while Brittany Campbell used the inside lane to charge through and finish second. Barry Shaw Jr was third, followed by Mike Cavallaro and Ethan Heilborn. Vanada would settle for sixth after last lap contact with the driver who followed him across the line, Amy Arsenault. Tim Bolger, Kenneth Lavallee and Tom Scully III followed them to finish the top-10. The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks will return to the track on Saturday, August 27 for the final round of the regular season for 25 laps. On Friday night, Lincoln added his first career Pure Stock win to his resume, besting Danny Massa over the final laps of the 25-lap feature to take the win. Jared Cordeira originally crossed the line with the victory, but failed to make it through post-race inspection. Lincoln and Massa battled hard with him to the finish, but settled for second and third, which became first and second in the final results. Greg Perry and Mike Rotondo both survived some mid-race chaos to finish inside the top-five. Jeremy Lambert was sixth, followed by Josh Badach, Don Courtemanche, Alice Benoit and Matt Talbot. The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will return to the track on Friday, August 27, for another 25-lap feature. Driving the No. 88, Deshaies bested Jacob “Rowdy” Burns, Brendon Hammann and others over the final laps to take the victory. It wasn’t easy — but Deshaies didn’t give up. He charged to the lead, then had a spirited battle with Burns for multiple laps in order to take down the win. Hammann would finish second in the 25-lap feature, while Burns crossed in third. Josh Parsons and Jake Silvia weren’t far behind at the finish, scoring fourth and fifth place efforts. Nicholaus Bulkeley was sixth, followed by PJ Evans, Brendan LaBelle, Mason Tessier and Jase Mongeon. Murray took the lead from DJ Thibeault early in the 25-lap feature and wasn’t going to be denied over the final stretch of the race. She pulled away from the field, and celebrated in Victory Lane again for the third time. Heading to the playoffs, Murray leads the championship standings and has momentum on her side. Tyler Duhancik finished close behind her in second spot, just one week after winning, while Jarrod Freitas resulted in the third spot. Sam Mattera charged to the top-five, while Stephanie Bruneau started on the pole and scored a top-five finish in fifth. Thibeault led laps early and finished sixth, followed by Jacob Budznya, Taylor Bowser, Andrew Rittman and Cascis Mitchell. For the ninth time this season, Silvia rocketed to Victory Lane on Friday night, passing for the lead early and holding off some hard chargers to earn another trip to Victory Lane. Silvia had to beat Brent Robidoux and Bradley Strickland to the final laps, while the two of them put together one of the more impressive races of the season. Even though Silvia won again, he was ecstatic in Victory Lane, showing the true passion behind the wheel. Robidoux edged Strickland across the line for second spot during his birthday celebration, while Strickland was also thrilled to return to the podium in third. Adam Harrison returned from some early race issues to finish fourth, while Dylan Calabro completed the top-five. Mikey LeFort III was sixth, followed by Bobby Bettencourt III, Andrew Gomes, Tucker Bock and Abbie Badejo. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will return to the track on Friday, August 27, for another 15-lap feature. However, after 15 laps in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits, everyone at the track knew who the driver of the No. 17 was. Moribeto got to the lead just before halfway in a busy and wreck-filled race, but in the end, he wasn’t going to be denied. Moribeto drove away from Ryan Vanasse Jr. and Milania Shilosky on a late restart to take his first career Seekonk win in his debut at the third-mile. Vanasse and Shilosky returned to the podium once again, finishing second and third in the 15-lapper. Behind them, Sam “The Green Hornet” Macedo was fourth and Luka Dib scored a top-five finish, one of the best runs of his career. Behind them, Brody Wakefield was sixth, followed by Kix Bock, Nick Uhrig Jr., Bryson Robidoux and Rodney Dowless. The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits will return to the track on Friday, August 27, for another 15-lap feature. HELGER’S DONATE LIFE SPORTSMAN 50, AMERICAN RACER 75 HEADLINE UPCOMING WEEKEND AT SEEKONK SPEEDWAY8/18/2022 ![]() SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway will continue to heat up the summer this weekend, August 19-20, with two days of racing on tap as the inaugural Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuel inches closer. On Fast Friday, there are just two races left to go in each division before the field is set, and this Friday night, all five divisions return to the track. On Saturday, NASCAR racing hits full speed with two extra distance events on Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment night at the races. The Sportsman will run for 50 laps, while the Pro Stocks go the long game with 75 laps in the American Racer Pro Stock 75. Saturday’s Helger’s night includes one of the longest Sportsman races in the history of the third-mile. With 50 laps on tap, this could be a battle of attrition and a battle of who can survive to the end, both mentally and physically, never mind their cars. The obvious favorite going into the event is Chad Baxter, who continues to dominate the class, picking up another win last week. In the last two months, it’s almost like it’s been Baxter in Victory Lane at the end of every single feature. Names like Craig Pianka, Scott Serydynski Jr., Adam Pettey and others will be looking to take him down. Fans are encouraged to check out Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment online at SouthCoastPowerEquipment.com, or visit their store in Westport, Massachusetts, where you can find the latest and greatest in power equipment needs every single season. American Racer continues to support Seekonk Speedway, especially through the ongoing tire shortage, and this Saturday, they sponsor 75 laps of Pro Stock racing. With Dave Darling coming off two straight wins, this could be the week that someone is able to take him down. Mike Brightman comes to mind, as the driver who won the first extra-distance event of the year. However, names like Tom Scully Jr., Mark Jenison, Ryan Vanasse, Bobby Pelland, Rick Martin and others will also be in competition. “It’s nice to be able to continue our annual race at Seekonk Speedway,” Bill Galloway of American Racer, Dave Linds Tires, said. “We get to stand out and show our appreciation to the drivers. We have to thank Seekonk Speedway for working with us during these challenging times. I’m looking forward to a great night of racing and look forward to seeing the winner in Victory Lane.” The Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks and Late Models will also be in competition Saturday night with regular qualifying and feature action. Recent Sport Truck winner Tom Scully III is on the bubble in the playoff chase, looking to hold off all challengers, while Late Model winner Mark Jenison picked up his first trophy of the year last week. The Sport Trucks have one of the closest races around the bubble in all of Seekonk’s divisions, so their 25-lap feature means more than just who wins the race. The Late Models will hit the track for 30 circuits. On Fast Friday, all five divisions are back on the track led by the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars. Last week, the Legends Cars weren’t able to take the green flag due to Mother Nature, but this week, they are ready to roll. Names like Devin Dehsaies, Reese Bogue, Brendon Hammann, Isaiah Newcomb, Mason Tessier and others will be chasing the checkered in their 25-lap main event. Look out for the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, one of Seekonk’s most competitive divisions, as they return to the track for 25 laps of their own. Greg Perry, Mike Henriques, Jordan Threlfall, Danny Massa and others have all already been to Victory Lane so for. This battle for eighth in the playoff bubble sees Mike Rotondo leading Ethan Souza by just eight points. In the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero divisions, last week continued the dominance of Darren Krantz Jr. and Chase Silvia, as they won in their respective divisions, adding to already impressive seasons. In the Bandits, Nick Uhrig Jr. leads Bryson Robidoux by just four points on the bubble cutoff, with Parker Davis only 12 points back. The Outlaw race for the playoffs is also close. Crystal Murray’s consistency has her at the top of the Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4 championship race heading to the playoffs, and the race for eighth has already opened up to be all but sealed in their division. Tickets for all Seekonk Speedway events are available online today at SeekonkSpeedway.com. Upcoming, Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday racing will take place on August 19-20 and August 26-27. In the middle, on Wednesday, August 24, the Boston Louie Seymour Memorial Classic for the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites will compete along with the New England Supermodified Series presented by PASS for a mid-week event. On Saturday, September 3, Seekonk Speedway celebrates Labor Day with another Thrill Show, this time with Fireworks. Fans who purchase tickets ahead will be able to skip the lines at the gates on race day. The chase for the inaugural Seekonk Speedway Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels is quickly approaching us, and things took a turn this past Friday. Coming off the Everett’s Auto Parts Triple Crown finale, the focus was completely on the features. Let’s look at how they turned out for drivers who are still in the hunt for the playoffs and what it means for them coming into this week, Friday, August 19, for another round of Fast Friday action. Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit Division ran for 15 laps this past weekend and once again, Darren Krantz Jr. took down the win, making it two in a row for the defending champion. He took the lead on a nice cut inside early on and did not let up from there. He now holds a four-point lead over Milania Shilosky and a 34-point lead over Ryan Vanasse Jr. for first. All three of these drivers will be racing for the championship this season. That takes care of the first half of the playoff picture, now let’s look at the second half. If you didn’t know already, the Bandoleros have the top 6 drivers get into the playoffs instead of the top 8. Collin Vanasse holds fourth place and much like his cousin, he will be racing in September. Sam “The Green Hornet” Macedo sits in fifth and will more than likely race in the playoffs. But the big story is at the bottom, where we find a new driver in sixth place. A top-10 finish was sufficient for Nick Uhrig Jr. to claim sixth place in the points standings with 392 points, four off of fifth place. Bryson Robidoux now finds himself on the outside looking in with 388 points and Parker Davis with 380 points. These drivers aren’t far behind, and the difference between a Top 5 and a Top 10 could determine the outcome of their seasons. Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws The dominance continued this past Friday in the Outlaws, with Chase Silvia making it eight wins out of eleven races. He now has a total of 542 points, more than any other driver at The Action of The East. Silvia seesawed back and forth all race until lap 13 when he passed Mikey LeFort III and found himself in Victory Lane. Behind him in the standings is Andrew Gomes with 494 points and a climbing and consistent Bradley Strickland with 434. It is known that Chase Silvia is winning this division and these three drivers will have some extra-curricular racing to do and generally, they are all spread far apart. Yet the last half of the playoff field is the complete opposite. Joey Lemay, Adam Harrison, and newcomer into the top-six Brent Robidoux are all separated by a whopping two points. Lemay and Harrison have 432 and currently sit in fourth and fifth place. Robidoux follows them with 430. Brent was on the outside looking in but a second-place finish last Friday put him in the playoff picture. Mikey LeFort III dropped to seventh in the standings. Along with LeFort, rookie competitor Bobby Bettencourt III sits in eighth place with 394 points. The season looks to be over for Bettencourt as far as his chances to make the playoffs, but not for LeFort. To have a chance at the postseason, he’ll have to grab at least one more podium finish. It’s anyone’s guess who will grab that final playoff spot. And again, with two weeks left to go, there is no room for error. Everett’s Auto Parts Sport 4’s This division gave us the most bittersweet race of the evening last week. But this week, the happy one wasn’t AJ Manuel, it was Fall River’s Tyler Duhancik. The Phil’s Propane #48 battled with Justin Leduc, who came in second (his best finish all year) all race and found himself in Victory Lane for the second time this season. Still on top is Crystal Murray with 502 points. Duhancik is right behind her with 494. Henry Lavalle, Jarrod Freitas, and Taylor Bowser sit in 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. All will be locked in for September. Daniel Hayes moves to sixth with 368 points. But near the bottom is where it gets fun. First-year racer Stephanie Bruneau climbs to seventh and has shown consistency all season. She should be into the Sunoco Race Fuels Drive For The Cup. Karlin Levesque slid to eighth. For those that don’t know, Levesque sold the #44 car to Cassius Mitchell who in two weeks, has two top 10 finishes. Justin Leduc is in ninth and if he has one more solid performance, he’ll be in the playoffs. If not, DJ Thibeault or even Christine Cavallaro could race for a trophy. With two races left, there are many more questions than answers at this point in the Sport 4’s. As long as those in contention stay consistent, all questions will be answered and they will promise to give us one of the most exciting finishes in recent memory. Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Pure Stocks Finally, The Rock has come back to…. For those of you that got the reference, thank you! If not, that’s okay! And by The Rock, I mean Jordan Threlfall and he is back in Victory Lane. He grabbed his first win of the season and his second in two years. Threlfall was the polesitter in this one and was able to lead wire to wire and as a bonus, he found himself one place higher in the points standings. Threlfall now sits fifth in the points standings and will be racing for a trophy this fall. Ahead of him, we find Danny Massa, Sam “Hot Rod” Lincoln, Greg Perry, and Mike Henriques. The difference between them all is 28 points. These five, along with sixth-placed Jeremy Lambert, will be racing in the playoffs, barring something extraordinary. However, it is still unknown who will join them. Currently, Jared Cordeira and Mike Rotondo sit in 7th and 8th place. Cordeira bumped up a spot and now has 364 points whereas Rotondo has 356. On the outside looking in we find Ethan Souza. Souza has 348 points and a feature win this season. If he wants to race in September, he’ll have to duplicate his winning efforts. Nick’s Pit Stop Legends It is now clear that Mother Nature does not like the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends. The cars were bunching up and “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins filled the track when it rained and rained, and it did not go away. As a result, our points standings stay the same. Devin Deshaies leads with Reese Bogue and Nick Bulkeley right behind him. In the middle, we find Brendon Hammann, Isaiah Newcomb, and Mason Tessier, who has been on a roll as of late. Rounding out the playoff field are Jake Silvia and Brendon LaBelle. LaBelle has 298 points and on the outside looking in is Josh Parsons with 292 points. Parsons won the last feature and another podium finish for him could mean trophy racing next month. Richie Helger Jr. isn’t far behind either in his Rookie season. In Conclusion Only two weeks remain before the playoffs begin, and the battle on the bubble is only drawing tighter across all five divisions on Fast Friday. Come on out and witness for yourself who can lock themselves into the first ever Seekonk Speedway Drive For The Cup presented by Sunoco Race Fuels. The battle continues this Friday, August 19 at 7:00PM. |
