SEEKONK, Mass. — With a $1,000 check on the line, Luke Lebrun knew he needed to be in a spot to capture the big check. Friday, Lebrun drove a Nick Lascuola Racing rental ride and rolled it right into Victory Lane in the Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown as part of the Labor Day Spectacular.
The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.
Lebrun was the fastest in qualifying, which earned him $140 courtesy of Nick’s Pit Stop. He drew a four-car invert, and it wasn’t long before he took the top spot. He passed Jake Johnson for the lead on lap 13 and led the rest of the distance.
Johnson, who had won the week before, started third and took the lead on lap three. However, with the Legends Cars switching to Hoosier Tires for the first time by rule, Johnson didn’t quite have the handling he needed. He would cross the line second, over two seconds back, while Carson Ferguson, Josh Parsons and Giovanni Ruggerio were third, fourth and fifth.
Regan Parent was sixth, followed by Connor Souza, Mason Tessier, Jacob Burns and Derek Gluchacki.
As part of the major event, multiple sponsors provided awards. Newcomb’s Tree Service, Keller Motorsports, Trent Goodrow Designs, Lebrun and Landscape Construction and Titan Vet Clinic.
The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars return to the track next Friday, September 11, with a 25-lap feature.
