SEEKONK, Mass. — Defending Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Pure Stock champion Greg Perry bested a full field of Pure Stocks to take the checkers for the first time in 2020 on Friday night.

The Fast Friday season resumed for the fourth race after multiple weeks off, with round two of the Everett’s Auto Parts Diamond Dash. There were no fans in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

Perry jolted out front on an early race restart and began to distance himself from the field.  The race was slowed at the halfway point with an additional caution when the No. 41 of Danny Massa and the No. 77 of Joey Morrisette made contact after battling three-wide for several laps, sending Massa to the pits with a flat tire.

For most of the early stages of the race, Perry’s closest competition came from two-time season winner Doug Benoit. Benoit ran strong in second until lap 18, when the No. 15 of Jeremy Lambert made a move to his inside to take the spot and set his sights on Perry.

As the laps wound down, Perry had extended his lead to a comfortable margin over second-place finisher Lambert, who was followed to the line by Benoit in third, the No. 03 of Mike Henriques in fourth and Massa, who made an impressive charge to the front after his early race mishap.

Timmy Ouellette was sixth, followed by Arthur Meack, Emily Brightman, Tommy Blackwell and Bill Chouinard.

The Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Pure Stocks will resume action next Friday, September 4, with the first feature event of the evening taking the green at 7 p.m.
