He might not have been the dominant car for most of the season, but Corey Fanning was there when it mattered most, taking the Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Sportsman championship for the first time. Fanning chased down Tyler Lallier in the second half of the year, and with just a few weeks left, when Lallier got caught up in a wreck, Fanning took advantage, taking the points lead and never looking back. After a trying year running both Seekonk and Thompson Speedway’s Sportsman classes, Fanning celebrates his first title. Behind him, Lallier would finish second, while former champion Steve Axon posted a third.
