Kun Repeats as Pure Stock Champ
“Bad Chad” Baxter made the most of the Fast Fridays closer nipping a win from Jeremy Lambert and Andrew Kun in some tight Pure Stock action. Andrew Kun’s third place meant he repeated his 2015 Pure Stock championship in 2016.

Robert Moore and Daniel Massa kicked off from the front row and Moore went to the lead with Mass fighting him all the way on the outside. But Moore secured the lead coming out of turn four and Lambert nosed under Massa. Mark Murphy got under Colby Lambert behind them and took over fourth, then moved past Massa into third on lap three. Massa held fourth for a single lap, then Lenny Sousa got past into fourth and one lap later, Baxter slid Massa out of fifth on his way to the front.

Lap eight saw Moore continue to lead, but he was running very high on the track while Jeremy was looking underneath, followed by Murphy, Sousa and Baxter, who was now working his way under Massa.
Jeremy continued to nose up but Moore stubbornly clung to the lead. Lambert’s persistence finally turned the tide as he got his nose ahead. By lap eleven he had the lead over Moore, who was chased by Murphy, Sousa, Baxter and Amy Arsenault, whgo was working under Massa with Gill Bradstreet giving chase.
Masssa was desperately working the outside with (now) Arsenault underneath. Lambert was 3 cars ahead of Moore. Kun was moving up and working under Colby and into eighth on lap 17.

Baxter went to the outside of Sousa looking ahead to Murphy. Kun was getting around Massa.
Lap 20 saw Moore sideways out of turn four and Baxter took advantage to move past. With three laps remaining he still had Jeremy in front of him and Moore, Murphy and Sousa on his tail. Kun at the same time was getting under Arsenault intosixth and onto Sousa’s bumper. Next was Murphy and Kun made the pass with two to go.

Lap 23 saw Baxter with his nose past Jeremy’s and he had the lead going under the white flag. As Kun went under Murphy for third. Baxter, on the outside, took the lead firmly and charged under the Checkers with Jeremy challenging him all the way. They finished 1-2 and Kun completed his pass of Murphy for third and the championship. Murphy was fourth and Arsenault fifth. Sousa crossed sixth, followed by Massa, Lambert, Bradstreet and Doug Benoit. Moore was just off the top ten in eleventh.
