BAXTER GOES BACK TO THE FRONT FOR ANOTHER WIN IN SPORTSMAN

SEEKONK, Mass. — Chad Baxter has been the dominant force in the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman all season, and on Saturday, August 14, Baxter was ready to get back to Victory Lane. The driver of the Sprague Motorsports prepared No. 0 started in the middle of the field as part of Everett’s Auto Parts night, but he wasn’t going to let that slow him down in the 25-lap race.
He passed into the top five on lap three, then quickly worked his way to second by the time the field crossed at the halfway point. From there, Baxter began closing the gap on race leader Chris Rioux, who was looking for his first victory in many years. However, with just three laps to go, Baxter spoiled his party, making the pass and driving away to his sixth win of the year, doing this one in style.
Rioux settled for second, while Steve Axon rolled to another podium, finishing third. Craig Pianka, the winner from one week earlier, was fourth, while Chris Gomes completed the top-five. Corey Fanning was sixth, followed by Adam Pettey, Joe Kohler, Colby Lambert and Ed Perry.
The Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman will return to the track on Saturday, August 21, for another 25-lap feature, this time in the finale of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit SeekonkSpeedway.com and follow the track on social media.
