SEEKONK, Mass. — Two weeks ago, some of Seekonk Speedway’s fanbase may not have even known the name Sam Macedo. However, after two straight wins in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw division, the fans will remember him as he makes his rise through the racing ladder at the third-mile.
Macedo held off Darren Krantz Jr. to score the big win on Friday, July 23, dominating the final half of what was a feature that went without a caution flag. Mike Hanafin and Luka Dib were on the front row for the drop of the green, with Hanafin jumping out front and looking strong in the early going. However, over time, Ryan Vanasse Jr. worked the inside lane and took the top spot from Hanafin on lap six, then was passed by Macedo for the lead on lap eight.
Macedo pulled away from his challengers, driving into Victory Lane once again, with Krantz working his way to second, and Vanasse settling for third. Hanafin was fourth after leading laps early and outside polesitter Dib rounded out the top-five.
Mikey LeFort III was sixth, followed by Nick Uhrig Jr., Collin Vanasse, Zacarias Kelley and Milania Shilosky. Unfortunately for Shilosky, a mechanical issue didn’t allow her to start the race. In a race that went from green to checkered without a caution flag, Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment donated cash to the race winner in the Flag to Flag Challenge.
The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit division will return to the track on Friday, July 30, at 7 p.m. for another 15-lap feature event. For more information on Seekonk Speedway, visit and follow the track on social media.
