With Seekonk Grand Prix back as the primary sponsor, the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero series is ready to rev back into high gear come the end of May. With the two champions from last year making their move up in Seekonk’s upper divisions, two new drivers will add their names to the list of Seekonk Youth Racing Association title holders.

Among those drivers already entered, a few veterans look to come to the front of the class. In the Outlaw division, Isaiah Newcomb and Giovanni Ruggerio are the early favorites to contest for the title. Newcomb is also registered for the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars in 2019, so it looks like he could have a busy Friday night on more than one occasion if they elect to run both cars. Newcomb was the top challenger to Devin Deshaies in the Bandit class last year — and even though Deshaies did dominate — Newcomb was able to hold the checkered flag in his No. 22. Ruggerio is hoping to have continued success at Seekonk and win his first track Championship.

In the Bandolero Outlaw division, Samantha Dell also opens the year as the favorite among those drivers who have registered. Dell showed tons of speed in the second half of the 2018 season and nearly visited Victory Lane on multiple occasions.

Nathan Smith is another rising Bandolero star who will look to add his name to the list of winners as the favorite in the Bandit class. Smith consistently found speed to be towards the front of the field last year and will look to build on his momentum as he hopes to become the top challenger.

Overall, a mix of incoming drivers are heading into their first, or second, Bandolero season. Collin Vanasse got some early experience last year and will return for a second outing, while he’s joined by Ryan Vanasse Jr., a native of Warwick, Rhode Island. You might know the name Vanasse from NASCAR Saturday, where Ryan Vanasse turns laps in the Pro Stock division.

Mike Hanafin, a native of Marshfield, Mass., and Nicholas Rose are also some early newcomers to the Bandolero division. With a new season right around the corner, fans will witness Seekonk’s upcoming racing talent to begin each Friday night.

The 2019 Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit and Outlaw seasons gets underway as part of the Fast Friday opener on Friday, May 31. The opening races of the season is slated for 15 laps.
