Ryan moved into the lead early on, after a hard fought battle with Tom Scully Jr, and held on to win the Pro Stock main event. His win was not without concern, however. While leading, he made contact with the lapped car of Danny Cabral. Many thought that he may have bent something in the front suspension. No damage was done, and he was able to hold on through a couple of late race restarts. Tom Scully Jr of Cranston RI held on for second, with Rehoboth’s Dave Darling, Westport’s Fred Astle Jr and Kevin Casper of Somerset rounding out the top five.

Bobby Pelland proved that running on the outside last week was no fluke. The third generation driver once again used the outside lane to race for the lead. This time, it was sophomore Dylan Estrella of North Attleboro providing the challenge for the Cranston native.

Once in front, Pelland was able to hold on through several restarts and pick up his third career Late Model victory. Gerry DeGasparre of Pawtucket was second, with West Warwick’s Jeramee Lillie, Dennis Stampfl of Norwood, and Estrella rounding out the top five.

Four time Sport Truck Champion Mike Cavallaro was back to his winning ways, picking up the win on his birthday weekend. Cavallaro, of Seekonk, took over the lead from Darryl Church of Brockton just past the mid-way point of the 25 lap feature. Cavallaro opened up a one second + advantage by the time the checkered flag flew in the non-stop event. Rick Martin of Westport finished second, with opening day winner John Paiva, Church and Scott Dion rounding out the top five.

Second place is becoming the place for Paul Lallier to finish. For the second consecutive week, Lallier finished second across the stripe, but inherited the win after post-race technical inspection. Apparent winner Scott Serydynski did not make it through inspection, disqualifying him from the win. Lallier, Serydynski, and Ryan Lineham started deep in the 27 car field, but made it through the pack and raced hard for the win. Lallier inherited the lead in a three wide move with Serydynski in the third groove, but the Exeter driver moved back into the lead, and held on to the checkered, only to lose the win post-race. Lallier, of Attleboro picked up his second win of the season with Scott Cestodio, Crystal Serydynski and Sparky Arsenault making the top five officially.

On Saturday, Seekonk Speedway presents the second annual Show and Go, a Classic Car Show and Burn Out Drag Races, presented with Kraze Korlacki Speed Equipment. With over 30 classes of cars scheduled for judging by the Mass Cruisers, hundreds of cars are expected to be on hand. In addition to the show, those that are brave enough will have the chance to compete in the Burn Out Drags, which will be held on the 1/3 mile oval. There is a $10 registration for the cars to compete in the Show and Go. Gates open at 8am, judging starts at 9, and the Burn Out Drags happen at 1pm.

 While the Show and Go is happening in the main parking lot, the competitors will be gearing up for Sundays Opening Day with their final pre-season practice session. This is the final opportunity for competitors from Seekonk, and touring divisions that will be competing at Seekonk, to get ready for their season. Pit gates open at 9am for competitors, and rookies hit the track at 10. There is no charge to watch the practice session through the main gate, and to enjoy the Show and Go.

 On Sunday, Seekonk Speedway kicks off their 67^th season into high gear with a 5 division platter of competition. Headlining the afternoon will be the Phil’s Propane 60 lap main for the ARC Pro Stocks. Phil’s has been a part of the Seekonk Speedway family for over 20 years, and is also the official Propane Company of Seekonk Speedway. Phil’s will celebrate their 60^th anniversary in 2012, and their celebration kicks off our 2012 season.

 Also on the docket will be the Late Models, Sport Trucks, Street Stocks, and the NELCAR and Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Cars. With double points on the line, opening day can have a serious impact on the final outcome of the points championship events.

 On Sunday, the pit gates open at 10am, with final practice at 12 noon. After a short session, the 2012 season officially opens at 2pm. Subject:  Change to Rule 6.1

Late Model Owners.

With the resent change this year with the ACT rules around weight it was decided to continue to align our rules with ACT and change BOTH the ACT and Seekonk Late Model 2012 weight rule. The change is only to affect the left side percentage.

Rule change: All cars will adhere to a maximum left side percentage of 57%.

No Change will happen to total weight: These rules will remain to the 2012 rules as listed.

6.1 *ACT Late Model Weight – 2850 lbs.

Seekonk Late Model Weight – 2900 lbs.

Stock Snout weight break – 25 lbs.

Seekonk Late Model w/o crate engine add – 50 lbs.

Seekonk Late Model with Koni Shocks weight break – 25 lbs.
