This Week at the Action Track of the East!

Only six Friday and Saturday night regular races remain on the 2015 season here at Seekonk Speedway, then we go D.A.V. Fall Classic racing before we close out the 2015 season. Man, where did the time go? You have to remember back to Opening Day, watching Tom Scully Jr. win in honor of his ill mother and watching him celebrate with joy. Look now… Scully Jr. sits only four points behind Angelo Belsito in the Pro Stock championship chase in one that will surely be exciting going down the wire in the next few weeks. While you are here this weekend and reading the program, make sure you rip out the Most Popular Driver ballot and fill it out and pass it in at the base of the tower. Show your support for your favorite driver. Those winners will be announced later in the season during the second pit party of the year on September 5. Fast Friday this weekend should see a thrilling conclusion to the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Cars. Names like Jordan Lamothe, T.J. Thompson, Jesse Melberg and others will be battling it out looking to grab the championship in the 30 lap event. We have seen car counts for the Legend Cars rise over 25 this season and I think we will be back there once again. Joining the Legends on Friday include the Sport 4’s, who come off a great race with a battle to the end between Raymond Herman Sr. and Dave Westgate. Congrats go out to Dave and the whole No. 49 team on picking...

Lougee & Pangelinan make their victory lane debuts & Pelland & Casper repeat!

LOUGEE LEADS ALL THE WAY TO FIRST CAREER TRUCKS WIN David Lougee came off the outside pole, took the front from Lenny Guy and refused to relinquish the lead for the full 25 laps, enroute to snaring his first feature win in the division. Mike Duarte chased him for 23 of those laps and John Paiva for the last two. With a restart on lap 23, Lougee had to give up a long lead and brawl it out with Paiva on his outside. Paiva used a drop-under to getbelow but Lougee stayed steady, held the hammer down and kept Paiva at bay to win by mere inches and just two hundredths of a second on the clock. Paiva was second, followed by Rob Murphy. Duarte took fourth, and Chase Belcher rounded out the top five. Lougee, who already led Belcher in divisional points, was quick out of the box but Guy bore down and drove back alongside in turn two, but he got high and wide, allowing Lougee to go to the front. Duarte, who started low in the second row, also was able to sweep under Guy and into second. Mike Cavallaro started fifth and as Darryl Church faded from fourth on the outside, Cavallaro swept under him and Guy into third. Lougee moved away with Duarte and Cavallaro in pursuit, as behind them, Belcher, Paiva and Rob Murphy scrambled to join in. Lougee went out to a two-car lead on Duarte, who in turn was five up on Cavallaro while Paiva was harrying Mike’s back bumper. Murphy got past Belcher to chase Paiva. As Duarte began to...

Lebrun, Herman, Bowser, Desrosiers & Thompson all repeat Fast Friday winners!

LUKE LEBRUN MAKES IT A BIG 3 IN 600’s A lap one crash moved Luke LeBrun from an eighth place start to the pole and he was unassailable for the remaining 19 circuits enroute to his third victory on the season. On the way, he acquired Anthony Marvin as a chaser. Marvin closed in and spent the final laps all over LeBrun’s bumper but could not pry the lead away, finishing a half-second back. Marissa Morgan was third in a tight pace-line to the finish, with Karlin Levesque working high and low, but unable to pass. He gathered up fourth, while Corey Charette gathered in fifth. Three competitors were eliminated before lap two was complete. Following a spin by AvaChouinard in turn two of lap one, the field reset, but Alexandra Lillie, Trenton Goodrow, Scott Serydynsky,Jr and Karlin Levesque held a spinning ballet into turn three. Zachary Martinez attempted to depart viathe pit exit, but ground to a halt at its entrance, ending his evening prematurely. LeBrun shared the pole with Corey Charette and was able to spring to the front on the third start. Colin McMullen got under Charette and into second while Marissa Morgan followed to third. But Trenton Goodrow and Alexandria Lillie got into it and Goodrow spun across the berm. He went to the pits. LeBrun again took the lead and Morgan vaulted past McMullen for second while Marvin captured third. Karlin Levesque pulled in behind McMullen before Serydynski spun out of turn four into the infield. The lap four restart saw Marvin looking under Morgan as LeBrun ran to the front. Marvin claimed second...

This Week at the Action Track of the East!

We have hit the final stretch of the season here at the Action Track of the East. It is extremely hard to believe that we are now into the second weekend in August with only about seven weeks of racing remaining before we pack these machines into the garages for the offseason which will probably include the normal ton of snow. This week we have a special conclusion to the Pro Stock Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series with 65 laps of action. Tom Scully Jr. leads the group of four into the finale after winning round one, but he also will come into the event the overall points leader. It will be interesting to see with double points up for grabs if he is able to hold the title lead or do the gremlins haunt him in the extra distance affair. He joins Freddy Astle, Kevin Folan and Rick Martin in the last group of cars eligible for the Triple Crown title. What happens there? Will the championship chase close up even more headed into the final six weeks? Folan has been strong of late, but Martin has fought an ill-handling race car. The Late Model championship fight has also closed up. Bobby Pelland III took over the title lead after last weekends second place finish to Jeramme Lille and he is seemingly the favorite to hold on and grab the title crown by season’s end. On Friday evening, we will crown a champion in the Sport 4 division Triple Crown Series fight. We have had two exciting 25 lap features so far this season and this one should...
