Lougee & Pangelinan make their victory lane debuts & Pelland & Casper repeat!

LOUGEE LEADS ALL THE WAY TO FIRST CAREER TRUCKS WIN David Lougee came off the outside pole, took the front from Lenny Guy and refused to relinquish the lead for the full 25 laps, enroute to snaring his first feature win in the division. Mike Duarte chased him for 23 of those laps and John Paiva for the last two. With a restart on lap 23, Lougee had to give up a long lead and brawl it out with Paiva on his outside. Paiva used a drop-under to getbelow but Lougee stayed steady, held the hammer down and kept Paiva at bay to win by mere inches and just two hundredths of a second on the clock. Paiva was second, followed by Rob Murphy. Duarte took fourth, and Chase Belcher rounded out the top five. Lougee, who already led Belcher in divisional points, was quick out of the box but Guy bore down and drove back alongside in turn two, but he got high and wide, allowing Lougee to go to the front. Duarte, who started low in the second row, also was able to sweep under Guy and into second. Mike Cavallaro started fifth and as Darryl Church faded from fourth on the outside, Cavallaro swept under him and Guy into third. Lougee moved away with Duarte and Cavallaro in pursuit, as behind them, Belcher, Paiva and Rob Murphy scrambled to join in. Lougee went out to a two-car lead on Duarte, who in turn was five up on Cavallaro while Paiva was harrying Mike’s back bumper. Murphy got past Belcher to chase Paiva. As Duarte began to...

This Week at the Action Track of the East!

We have hit the final stretch of the season here at the Action Track of the East. It is extremely hard to believe that we are now into the second weekend in August with only about seven weeks of racing remaining before we pack these machines into the garages for the offseason which will probably include the normal ton of snow. This week we have a special conclusion to the Pro Stock Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series with 65 laps of action. Tom Scully Jr. leads the group of four into the finale after winning round one, but he also will come into the event the overall points leader. It will be interesting to see with double points up for grabs if he is able to hold the title lead or do the gremlins haunt him in the extra distance affair. He joins Freddy Astle, Kevin Folan and Rick Martin in the last group of cars eligible for the Triple Crown title. What happens there? Will the championship chase close up even more headed into the final six weeks? Folan has been strong of late, but Martin has fought an ill-handling race car. The Late Model championship fight has also closed up. Bobby Pelland III took over the title lead after last weekends second place finish to Jeramme Lille and he is seemingly the favorite to hold on and grab the title crown by season’s end. On Friday evening, we will crown a champion in the Sport 4 division Triple Crown Series fight. We have had two exciting 25 lap features so far this season and this one should...
Lillie, Murphy, Lovelace & Belsito Grab NWAAS Wins!

Lillie, Murphy, Lovelace & Belsito Grab NWAAS Wins!

THE HAMMER NAILS HIS SECOND WIN ON LATE MODEL SEASON Jeramee Lillie kept winding it up on the third-mile and worked his way from a third row start to take over the lead with seven laps to go. And despite points leader Bobby Pelland III’s best efforts to chase him down, Lillie came home with his second win on the season. Lillie’s efforts spoiled a great run by rookie TJ Moreshead, who grabbed the front at the outset and ran 23 laps in the lead before Lillie ran him down. Moreshead finished third, behind Pelland. Austin Blais and Charlie Rose rounded out the top five in the event. Moreshead was off the pole with Mark Hudson at first hanging on his outside. But Nick Uhrig ducked under from the second row and Lillie got past Blais into fourth. Pelland came in under Blais. Rose, Vinnie Arrenegado and Dylan Estrella followed. Hudson couldn’t settle in due to the crowd below him and was relegated to the great freight train going backwards on the outside. Pelland and then Rose went by. Pelland looked under Lillie for a three-wide as The Hammer ducked under Uhrig, but couldn’t complete the operation. He tried a second time, but the door was shut again. By now, Moreshead was 15 cars to the good on the rest of the field. But Lillie, Pelland and Uhrig had broken free and were running single file. Blais was under Rose, ahead of Hudson. Blais and Rose continued their debate for several laps while Moreshead continued to move away. Lillie had two cars on Pelland. Estrella was beginning to move...

This Week at the Action Track of the East!

This weekend at the Seekonk Speedway we are wrapping up the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for one of our divisions. That will come on Saturday evening, but let us begin with Friday. After a week off because of Mother Nature raining on our parade last week, we are back in action ending the month of July with a bang. Round two of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Pure Stocks will take center stage. That race was scheduled for last Friday evening but with the weather has been moved to this week, giving us three Triple Crown Series races on the night. The Pure Stock Triple Crown Series has seen one race so far and Amy Arsenault put her Chaz’s Auto Body No. 9 machine into victory lane in thrilling fashion and currently holds the point standings lead in the division as well. Arnsenault has had some strong seasons in the past but never quite been able to seal the deal when it comes to the championship chase. Could this be the year a lady takes the Pure Stock title? Round two for the SYRA 600 and the SYRA 750 will also get underway on Friday evening. Even though both races will have double points and double the glory up for grabs, the distance will remain the same. SYRA drivers will be competing in 20 lap features with their normal 8 lap heats on Friday evening. Don’t forget… Each of the divisions still have round three before a champion can be decided. The Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Cars and Sport 4 will also be in action...
Murphy, Mitchell, Hutchins Jr & Belsito Grab Feature Wins on Everett’s Night!

Murphy, Mitchell, Hutchins Jr & Belsito Grab Feature Wins on Everett’s Night!

MURPHY OUTRUNS JOHNSON FOR TRUCKS WIN Rob Murphy’s form remained good as he worked his way from a sixth place start to the front for another win. The current champ moved into third on lap six, behind rookie contender Dan Johnson, who was dueling for the lead with Murphy’s teammate Chase Belcher. That contest went Johnson’s way on lap eight, leaving Murphy to contend for second. They ran first-second-third for nine more laps before Murphy took over second. A dogfight for the front ensued but 2 laps later, Johnson grudgingly gave way, giving Murphy the lead with six laps remaining. Johnson and Belcher continued, notching second and third, respectively, while John Paiva and points leader Mike Cavallaro rounded out the top five. Eric LeBrun jumped off the pole ahead of Johnson and Belcher leapt in underneath, setting Johnson back to third. Cavallaro held third, but Murphy edged past on lap two as Belcher got under LeBrun to steal the front. By lap four, Belcher had a 12-car lead and Johnson was past LeBrun into second. Murphy then went under to edge him out of third as he struggled with the freight train going backwards on the outside. Next to take advantage was Cavallaro. LeBrun’s unhappy slide only ended after Mike Duarte and John Paiva had stormed by rendering him sixth. Lap five saw Darryl Dutch and Russ Borges get together, ending up nose-to-nose in turn four, bringing caution. Belcher and Johnson took the front with Murphy low behind them. Belcher ran hard out of the box and Johnson dropped into second ahead of Murphy. Cavallaro was fourth. Paiva...
