This Week at the Action Track of the East!

THIS WEEK AT THE ACTION TRACK: Welcome back race fans! Last weekend we saw some great racing action on both our Fast Friday and Super Saturday program. Friday, it was a thrilling battle in the SYRA 750 that really grabbed my eyes. The field battled three and four wide on multiple occasions and Taylor Bowser made some impressive moves in route to her first win of the season. Congrats go out to her and her dad on a job well done. The Pit Party on Saturday was a huge success. It was great to see the fans down on the track showing support for the drivers and grabbing some of the candy that the drivers brought to show their thanks. Kudos to all involved in making that happen and all of the fans for coming out. It was also great to see Manny Dias return to Street Stock Victory Lane after a long, LONG layoff. Congrats go out to Manny and his crew on an awesome setup and drive on the track. Congrats to TJ Thompson in the Legend Cars and Charlie Rose in the Late Models for winning Triple Crown races last weekend as well. Now.. Onto this week at the Action Track… The Fast Friday series will continue with round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Pure Stock class along with the Brad Scott Memorial. Those drivers come to the track each and every week fighting for every inch they can get and put on a thrilling show. With the added five laps and the added incentive to try and chase the Triple...
Houlihan, Dias, Belcher & Rose Take Home NWAAS Wins!

Houlihan, Dias, Belcher & Rose Take Home NWAAS Wins!

HOULIHAN AVOIDS CARNAGE, TAKES FEATURE WIN Dick Houlihan stayed at the front, used every bit of the horsepower and handling Len Ellis provided him and came home at the head of a field which lost 45 percent of its participants by race’s end. Houli chased Dave Hutchins, Sr. across the initial sixteen laps – in fact, he worked the outside lane for the span before he gathered up an extra bit of speed to finally surge to the front and take over for good. At mid-race, fast and dangerous Ryan Lineham hauled the Rollie Lindblad special in on Houlihan’s bumper and the distance between them could have been measured in mere inches for the remainder of the race. Lineham was just .290 seconds in arrears at the finish. With seven laps remaining, Angelo Belsiot (who had started at the midpoint of the 20-car field) was able to get past Hutch for third and the previous race’s winner, Kevin Casper, pulled in for fifth. Thinning of the field began seconds after Houlihan had dropped in behind Hutchins on lap one. An accordion effect from a loose setup at midpack sent Ryan Vanasse climbing atop Kyle Casper’s nose coming out of turn 3. They sat, piled like pancakes in the third groove. They were lifted apart and taken to the pits. Casper was done for the night, but miraculously Vanasse was back in time for the restart. On the restart, Hutch popped out ahead of Houlihan, who elected to fight it out from the second groove. Kevin Folan continuously rushed up to Hutchins’ bumper, preventing Houlihan from dropping in. Fred Astle...
Marvin, Miranda, Bowser, Baxter & Thompson Take Fast Friday Wins!

Marvin, Miranda, Bowser, Baxter & Thompson Take Fast Friday Wins!

TJ THOMPSON IRREPRESSIBLE IN LEGENDS TJ Thompson blasted off the launch pad in the laps-added Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Legends feature and made his way rapidly to the lead by lap eight to deprive the speedy polesitter Chris Robbins of the lead. By then, he was supersonic and outran the field to the finish, increasing his lead slowly to better than 25 cars at the finish: a 2.156 second margin of victory over Jordan Lamothe, who has dominated the first two features in the young Fast Fridays season. The event, which was also a qualifier for this year’s Legends Nationals, had a host of hotshoes battling at the front, also including Jesse Melberg, Brandon “Batman” Martinez, Brandon Packard, John O’Sullivan and Jesse Jakubajtys. The front ten was a riot of cars battling for position and exchanging places. Robbins and Packard came off the pole and dueled before Robbins ground to the front. Jakubajtys followed but Matt Carpenter dived under into third and then Martinez ducked in to run wheel-to-wheel. Caution flew going into lap four as division champ Nick Lascuola spun in turn four. Curt Snow was unable to avoid a collision and a hard hit ensued. Both vehicles were eliminated by the wreck. Lascuola, who had missed the heats due to his high school graduation, had moved rapidly from the end of the field to 16th, passing 3 cars per lap. Robbins and Packard lined up for the lap 3 restart. But Thompson was now low in the row behind them and did a quick look under Robbins after following him through under Packard. They came door-to-door...

This Week @ The Action Track of the East!

Article by Kyle Souza What a weekend we have on tap! This weekend the track will hold round one of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Cars on Fast Friday. It will be the second weekend of the Triple Crown Series action for our Fast Friday divisions. For me, the Legends Triple Crown races are some of the most exciting events the track has to offer during the course of the season. They provide side by side racing with some of the young guns here at the track that are looking for a breakthrough ride into a Saturday night division. Nick Lascuola may make a few appearances in these events this season and he will easily be a favorite. The defending champion competed last week and came laps away from a victory before contact sent him to the rear end of the field. Who will be the one to capture the checkers in the 30-lap feature event? Was it not great last week to see Mike Duarte grab a win in the Sports Trucks? He has been fast all season long and it was great to finally see him breakthrough and grab his first winning flag. Congrats go out to Richard Savary as well. He came into Seekonk and stormed through the field to collect the win in the Valenti Modified Racing Series 100. Catch the modifieds back at Seekonk once again on Wednesday July 1. On Saturday, we have the on track pit party going on before the racing begins at 4:00 PM. This is one of my favorite nights of the...
