Dave Darling was daring and dynamic on Saturday, June 23, as he picked up his second win of the season in the 75 lap Pro Stock main event. His last win came on opening day, in the first 75 lap feature of the season. Darling used a late race restart to move past Tom Scully Jr, who dominated the middle portion of the event, and took over the lead for good.

Warwick RI’s Ryan Vanasse picked up the lead during the middle portion of the 40 lap Pro Stock feature, and held off 6 time Pro Stock Champion Fred Astle and Tom Scully Sr in a late race restart to pick up his second Pro Stock win of the season. Kyle Casper brought the field down for the green, and Somerset native set the pace through the early goings.

Jesse Melberg made his way back to the winners circle in the Pure Stocks. Jesse took over on a lap 22 restart and held off defending Pure Stock Champion Bill Chouinard to pick up his second win of the season. The race was dominated by Amy Arsenault, who led from the beginning, but spun out of the lead with just a handful of laps remaining. Melberg took over, and amid heavy pressure, showed there is no “Sophomore Slump” for this Taunton native. Chouinard held on for second, with Chris Lima, Earl Curtin and Tom Blackwell rounding out the top five.

Tyngsboro’s Louie Mechalidas brought the 24 car field down to the green flag, and held off the heavy challenges of Les Hinckley through several restarts, and Jon McKennedy at the end to pick up the win at Seekonk Speedway Saturday night. McKennedy slid past Hinckley with less than 15 laps to go, and pushed the Kevin Stuart owned machine to the finish.

Mike Brightman of Acushnet shook off the bad week two he had, and bounced back to pick up his first win of the season in the A.R.C. Pro Stocks. Brightman started third on the grid, and ran there for the first several laps, until Tom Scully Jr and Fred Astle made contact, sending both to the rear. On the restart, Mighty Mike was able to move his Impact Collision Parts Ford past Dick Houlihan, and then slid under polesitter and leader Ken Spencer, Once out front, there was no looking back for the former Late Model Champion.
