Doming From behind is old hat for Curtis Rolando as he is leading the points in the SYRA 750 division and continues to pile up the feature wins. This week turned out the same despite spirited competition from Taylor Bowser.
Bowser jumped off the pole into the lead, setting a very fast pace and pulling out to a lead. Shelby Donovan jumped around Ashley Kuhn but spun out of turn two right in front of Kuhn and the field. The field was able to avoid and the field was reset to a lap one restart.
Rolando was behind Bowser on the restart with Kuhn on the high side. Bowser took the lead out of the starting box and Rolando followed. As Bowser led the field on lap five, David Lougee ran into problems in turn three and was up on two wheels before spinng to bring out a lap five caution.
Boswer was able to again pull away from Rolando on the restart as Shelby andKaitlyn pursued. Christine Cavallaro, Kuhn and Lougee followed up.
Lap six saw Rolando go to Bowser’s outside for the pass. They ran wheel-to-wheel for two laps until Bowser was loose in turn two and wiggled just enough to allow Rolando to get past into the lead. He began to extend the gap back to Bowser steadily as a group of three cars formed up to battle over third: Shelby, Kaitlyn and Cavallaro. Behind them Lougee and Kuhn battled for position, side-by-side.
As the laps wound down, Rolando’s lead increased and Bowser kept a good distance ahead of the battle over third. As they closed down the stretch to the checkers, the group working for the third spot resolved as Shelby claimed third, followed by Cavallaro and Katlyn. Lougee was able to get past Kuhn for sixth.
