Valenti Modified Racing Series set to visit Seekonk for their first time in 2011.

On Saturday, August 20, the Valenti Auto Mall Modified Racing Series will visit Seekonk Speedway for the first time the year, for a 100 lap main event. This will mark the 17th visit for the VMRS to the Bay State oval since their inception in 2004.

Todd Annarummo is the defending winner of the late summer classic, picking up his first Valenti Modified win in front of his home crowd. Todd is the only driver to win his first race in this event in the 7 year history, but not the first driver to win his first at Seekonk. Todd is the latest, joining his father, 5 time Seekonk Champion Vinny Annarummo, Dave Berghman, and Andy Seuss.

The VMRS is coming off a streak where the last 4 events have produced 4 new winners, including their latest winner, Jerry Marquis. Coming into this event, the 13th on their schedule, there is one driver left in the top ten in drivers points that has yet to register a win in the VMRS. Norm Wrenn is in his second season competing in the VMRS tour, but has visited Seekonk’s Victory Lane several times in his career. His most recent was in May of 2011. This would make him a favorite to win his first, and become the fifth consecutive Valenti Modified Racing Series winner.

In addition to the open wheel modifieds, Seekonk’s Late Models, Sport Trucks and Street Stocks will also be in competition. The Pro Stocks will have the night off. Adult admission is just $20.00, with kids under 12 FREE. For more information, check out seekonkspeedway.com, or find us on Facebook.
