Duarte, Lallier, Estrella & Astle take NWAAS wins!

DUARTE NOTCHES SECOND WIN IN SPORTS TRUCKS For most of the 2015 season in the Sports Trucks division at Seekonk Speedway, drivers have struggled to click of a faster time then Mike Duarte in practice all day long. Duarte, nicknamed “Showtime,’ is an upcoming driver who hails out of Dighton, Massachusetts. He is always towards the top of the speed charts in practice, however, some bad luck and misfortune this season had kept him from posting the finishes that he should have gotten. One week it was the rear end breaking, one week it was a flat tire and another week it was the shifter coming off in his hand. With all of that behind him, Duarte showed up to Seekonk Speedway Saturday night and put on one hell of a show in front of a good crowd. Mike Lopes and Dan Johnson brought the field of Sports Trucks to the green flag for the 25 lap feature event and Lopes was on the gas extremely quickly, surprising Johnson just a tad. He couldn’t stick with him going into turn one and Duarte was able to drop to the bottom of the track and make the move of the race. He found himself quickly under Lopes going down into turn three and took the lead away before the first lap even clicked onto the scoreboard. While Duarte started putting some distance between he and Lopes, Chase Belcher took advantage of the inside lane being open to take second spot quickly. While he did that, teammate Rob Murphy charged through the field quickly and allowed himself plenty of time to... read more

Marvin, Bowser, Kun repeat Fast Friday wins. Bradstreet & Martinez make first appearances of 2015!

Anthony Marvin Claims Second SYRA 600 Feature Win of 2015 Rookie contenders Ava Chouinard and Zachary Martinez brought the field of twelve SYRA 600 drivers to the green flag on Fast Friday and the action was hot and heavy right from the start of the feature. The intense drivers went three-wide in turn one with Luke LeBrun, who started sixth in the pack, moving up to the third groove and into the top spot heading into turn three. Not only was there three-wide battling up front, but throughout the field drivers were battling hard not even one lap in and it caused some chaos. Turn three on lap one saw a multi-car crash including points leader Karlin Levesque, Corey Charette, Evan Marchand and Martinez, who took a hard hit. Once the accident was cleaned up and drivers doubled back up for the restart, Chouinard and new challenger Trenton Goodrow took the front two spots but not for long, since Marissa Morgan spun in turn three drawing the second caution of the event before a lap had been put on the scoreboard. Green flag flew once again just after a short cleanup and Trenton Goodrow was able to clear to the top of the field on lap one and set sail away. Goodrow, native of Carver, Massachusetts is a rookie contender in the SYRA 600 but did not show it early on, using the outside lane with success easily. LeBrun was able to clear a tough group of challengers by lap five and get to second and start chase — but the third yellow of the feature flew on lap... read more

This Week at the Action Track of the East!

Talking about the upcoming weekend, here’s what we have going on. Bare with me, because it’s a TON this weekend. Fast Friday will continue with the finale of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Pure Stocks class. Amy Arsenault will come into the 30 lap feature with the points lead in the Triple Crown and we will see if she can lock that up and go home victorious. We will also have both of the SYRA classes on hand this Friday night to continue their intense battling around the 1/3 mile oval. Can Taylor Bowser continue to chip away in the SYRA 750 points championship chase? She appears to be well on her way to closing the gap before the end of the season and making things very interesting down the stretch. Look out for the Sport 4, SYRA 600 and Legends feature this weekend as well. All three classes have lots of side-by-side battling and intense racing. The Saturday night racing will have round three of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series for the Street Stock class. That battle is heated going into the final four with four drivers ready to battle it out and see who becomes the champion with the extra glory on the line. Watch for the Trucks to return strong this weekend as well. They have had some great racing so far this season and their championship chase is getting closer and closer down to the wire. We will see if Dave Lougee can become the champion in only his second season behind the wheel. The Pro Stock championship battle will continue with... read more

Thomas takes home NEMST win while Fanning, Belsito, & Arrenegado collect NWAAS wins!

GLEN THOMAS CONQUERS NORTHEAST MINI STOCKS Glen Thomas did what no other Northeast Mini Stock driver could do since the season’s opener back in April at Lee USA Speedway:  he denied Toby Wells a win.  Until Seekonk, Wells was on a tear, taking every trophy available to the NEMS drivers with no hostages taken.  Finally, after a bounty of $250.00 was offered to anybody who could knock Wells off the top, Glen Thomas broke through the barrier, outrunning Wells over 40 laps with just a half-second margin.  Wells rocketed in for second and Tim Collins made it for third, as the Mini Stock Tour had the crowd in the palm of its hand. Joe  Baxter sailed in for fourth.  But fifth went to Seekonk’s own Darryl Church who showed up with his Seekonk Sports Truck to challenge the beasts of the tour.  And with his four cylinder power plant, he grabbed a big fifth place – not to mention winning his heat race. A field of 27 made the show and 25 hit the oval for the feature.  And from the moment the green dropped, the thrill was on.  Church jumped off the outside, beating polesitter Pete Zakarite to the stripe and leading the first two laps before Thomas stormed up to steal the front.  They went wheel-to-wheel before Thomas grabbed the front  in turn four of lap two.  Church clung to second as Zakarite held fourth, ahead of Derek Douglas and Richard Sprague who was working under Shaun Waites, Sr. But Wells was climbing rapidly, clipping off a competitor each lap and occasionally two.  By lap five he... read more

Marchand, Caddick, LeBrun, Lamothe & Lambert grab Fast Friday wins!

MARCHAND LEADS 600’S GREEN TO CHECKERS FOR FIRST WIN Evan Marchand snagged the front on the drop of the green and would not let up, carrying the torch from the initial green all the way to Victory Lane for his first-ever win in SYRA 600 competition.  Only a lap 15 caution slowed the streaking Marchand enroute to win, and he was able to pull away and reassume the lead.  Trenton Goodrow served as goad to Marchand, taking second on the opening lap and harrying him the entire 20 laps.  It was his first career victory.  Marissa Morgan, Scott Serydynski, Jr and Luke LeBrun rounded out the top five. Marchand leapt off the pole as Goodrow went under Zachary Martinez into second.  Serydynski followed into third.  Anthony Marvin got outside Martinez and went into fourth followed by Morgan. Martinez was having problems with the car and by lap 3 had faded to tenth. LeBrun had leapt from ninth to sixth, passing Karlin Levesque, Corey Charette and Martinez.  Into lap three, Marchand led Goodrow, Serydynski, Marvin, Morgan and LeBrun.  LeBrun moved up to Morgan’s bumper, while Levesque passed Charette for seventh and was 8 cars back of LeBrun, who was working the outside on Morgan but could not make the pass. By lap eight, Levesque had closed on LeBrun and worked his way underneath.  Marvin, meanwhile, was troubling Serydynski over third but was refused.  Levesque then turned the tables and moved in under Marvin but was rebuffed.  LeBrun then went low on Levesque, succeeding in taking his position back.  Marchand continued to lead Goodrow and Morgan. Goodrow was looking to go around... read more
